The Trust has always been too cozy with the club. The one time it did have a go it done a backstroke Michael Phelps would have been proud of.

Time for a shake up. Younger blood needed.

Just to clarify a couple of your claims if I may.

The Trust has never been "too cozy"(sic) with the club. In fact for many years it was the only fans organisation that criticised the directors of the club and pressed for answers. At one time this even led the owner to instruct the directors not to speak to us.

As for "done a backstroke" (sic) could you explain what you mean as I am totally unaware of any such an event happening?

Not got the exact figures to hand, but it's around 410/420 now I would have thought.

This is what I was referring to, when I asked why they would want to take over the Trust. We're not talking about massive numbers here, so what's the point? Just to get a tiny bit closer to the club? Or is this more about putting one over somebody in particular?
As for what to do - you don't have to do anything, as there is no election scheduled for quite some time. A lot could have happened by time that comes around. The fact that they're already trying to push the Trust into calling an earlier election should give you some idea of their intentions.

I'd say the latter as they are openly hostile to one of the board.

And that's with 70 new members? So it had dipped as low as 350?

If that's true, the organisation is clearly in need of a serious shake-up.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure the membership number was far higher when the Trust was originally formed - at least double the current number even taking into account the recent influx of the new members.

No agenda question: is the Trust's mission to represent all Cardiff fans' or just Trust members' views?

Dave , it has hovered around the 350 mark for some time now. Speaking to the FSA this is a similar number to other clubs at our level, and was at Championship level. The main problem is that the majority of fans just want to come along to a game , have a few pints with their mates then watch the game (even though the last bit has been c*ap in recent seasons.)

Hopefully this can change going forward as the Trust has been acknowledged by the FSA and the new Regulator as having a key role to play in fan consultation when the new Football Governance Act fully comes into operation. There is a note coming out shortly to members effectively saying "why is this important" having recently met with the acting COO of the Regulator.

Generally though , we do need a new membership push and there is no problem with the new joiners other than the fact that it was triggered by an individual who seems to have a huge personal dislike for me personally , the Trust in generally and most senior people at the club (other than the senior employee there that feeds him information which he then uses against the club)

Re: Sent out to Trust members this morning.

What safeguards are in place to stop a group of supporters from taking over a trust and using it for personal gain?

I gave you an answer, which, judging by one or two.comments since, looks to be right. Someone wants to get someone currently in a leading position at the Trust out.

Re: Sent out to Trust members this morning.

Given this spike in new members, along with the issuance of a letter requesting immediate CCST board elections when the next round of elections are due in H2 2026, it is clear that the individuals* involved are attempting to undermine the democratic integrity of the Supports Trust.

In which case, and as per section 24 of The Society Rules, the Supporters Trust has every right to expel those members for 'conduct prejudicial to the society'.

    https://www.ccfctrust.org/wp-content...iety-Rules.pdf

*The 28 members implicated have also conveniently named themselves in the letter submitted to the Supporters Trust.

Furthermore, and in line with point 26 of the CCST Disciplinary Policy:

'No member expelled from membership as a result of disciplinary action shall be re-admitted except by majority ruling of the Board'

    https://www.ccfctrust.org/wp-content...ry-Policy-.pdf

I'm sure the Cardiff City Supporters Trust would need to seek advice and firm up the above with a representative at the Football Supporters' Association. However, as far as I can tell, they could fill their boots here and do any future board members of the Trust a massive favour.

Re: Sent out to Trust members this morning.

I, along with a few other City fans, was at the Grange Bowling Club, Stockport prior to last week’s game. One poster I was reading re. membership of the club stated that new members would only be ‘associate’ members for two years before being able to apply for full membership, not allowed to vote on club issues during those two years. Thought it was a bit strange in these times of struggle for licensed premises but in hindsight, reading this thread has made me think that it’s not a bad idea.

Anyone with a ‘boat rocking’ agenda would still be paying their dues with no say in club agenda. They’d have to be pretty patient and keep their powder dry for 24 months, would such people with ulterior motives be able to do this? Or would it be against their nature not to let the mask slip. No clue as to whether this type of rule could be applied to the Trust.
