We've lost one nil at home to the bottom teams of the 4th and 3rd division.
It's a dot on the card that we'll draw either one of the Sheffields, or Wolves, at home, and lose one nil.
Strange that a fan of a club in the English set up is unaware that clubs from the top two divisions don’t enter the FA Cup competition until the third round, that’s been the way since time immemorial, well, 1925/26 season.
Maybe the bottom of the National League then....
We did also beat Cheltenham when they were bottom of league 2.
We may well draw whoever is bottom of league 2 at the time.
The draw's next Monday (13th October), with matches the weekend of 1st November.
(Cue the jokes about Halloween nightmares)
Are we the giants in this draw?
Are Merthyr Tydfil still in the cup? Hopefully we get them give them a big day out
No they were knocked out by Hampton and Richmond. There is one 9th tier team (Whitstable) and three 8th tier teams (Runcorn Linnets, Maldon & Tiptree and Flackwell Heath) who are still in the competition. The latter two of the 8th teir teams play each other so that would be a fun away day for the 55 people who would qualify for a ticket![]()
I don’t think the first round is regionalised. Last year Worthing played Morecambe in the first round. I wouldn’t like to understand the logic if they were considered to be in the same region.
It must be odd for Merthyr this year. Until they were knocked out they were in the southern draw. I saw them play Torpoint from Cornwall. In the northern League they have to travel to South Shields. For a non league side this season that covers just about the whole of England.
Not been in the second round for 23 years, I really hope the club start to take it seriously.
Being in the first round of the FA Cup is the ultimate indignity.
