Thread: Consistency .

    Consistency .

When we had that great start to the season everyone agreed that such a young team would have consistency problems but we were all prepared to accept that as long as progress was being made and the young boys were given their chance
Unfortunately that reasonable view has been abandoned . It is either we are wonderful or crap and find as many scapegoats as possible . BTW I thought Turnbull played well when he came on and helped steady the nerves .

I think in the immediate aftermath of such a poor display at Bolton for example it's hard for people to see the bigger picture. That's fair also, some spent decent money and time to get up there for us to not have a single shot on target.

However when you take a step back and think of all the change at the club, the amount of academy players in the team and when at our best a style of play that allows us to actually dominate matches and is easy on the eye it's something we can all get behind.

It will be like a rollercoaster at times but I can't fault 2 points a match in the league so far and last 8 of a cup by the end of October, I'd have definitely been happy with that back in July.

I thought they all played well yesterday, and the subs all played their part in a good win.

We shocked them, they couldn't live with us first half we should have been at least three nil up.

I agree, although I also think it's credit to how good the youngsters were at the start of the season that the expectations are so high.

There is inconsistency, both with individual players and the team in general, but we're on the right side of that inconsistency (i.e., we're winning far more games than we're losing).

The one thing I do think is a hindrance is BBM's insistence on working with a small squad. I understand his reasoning, but with the volume of games we have I do think he's asking too much of certain players and they're far more likely to have off days more regularly (e.g., Rubin and Bagan). On the flip side of that, the players who do come in and out of the team seem to be more effective; Ashford, for instance, was excellent last night after dropping to the bench for the last few games.
