Bumped into someone I hadn’t seen in some time while walking the dog on Wednesday evening and two things struck me about him straight away, first he sounded awful and second he’d lost a lot weight. He told me it was the first day he’d been out in three and a half weeks, he’d had the flu for all of that time, much of which he’d spent in bed. I mentioned about the weight he’d lost and he replied that he had not been dieting, his weight loss was down to the flu. I should say that he’s not in the best of health anyway, so it may have hit him harder than most, but it does sound like this year’s flu is a powerful one.

I had it a few weeks ago. Started on the Wrexham away game. Never felt so ill in all my life. Get the jab if you can.
The trouble is - this year's jab is for the wrong strain. They base it on whatever strain was prevalent in the southern hemisphere over the previous 6 months and apparently the got it wrong this year.
I had the flu about 10-15 years ago. I never felt so ill in my life. Worse than pneumonia.
That’s quite correct, had it a few years ago, absolutely paralysed. People who tell you when you’re out & about that they’ve got a touch of flu obviously have never experienced it, a bad cold perhaps they’ve got.Originally Posted by stevo
