I don’t feel they should be going. Drakeford has no track record as a fan of Welsh football, in fact it could be argued that he punished Welsh football fans in lockdown while he made sure the restrictions were lifted in time for rugby to go ahead. That alone is enough for me to resent seeing him at the WC. But more than that, stating that he is going along to shine a light on Qatar’s human rights record is just nonsense. It would have carried a stronger message to boycott the WC. Nobody but nobody will be making their way across the room to listen to Drakeford’s protests and opinions. It’s a jolly. He has broken ranks with Labour Party policy in his own interests. He’s our answer to Nicola Sturgeon and we have more pressing matters at home. It would be far more effective to send whoever heads up equality and the like within Welsh government and let them communicate the objections of the people of Wales to Qatari officials no?
The question again for me is ......
Who else is sending a government representative to Qatar?
And are any of them involved or say they are going to be involved in any human rights discussions ?
It's no good people with a political agenda like many on here slagging off drakeford without some kind of analysis
If he's on a jolly then is he the only one ?
If he is , get stuck in
But calling him silly names like so many do or having a go at his dress sense is dire
Yes, let's stop calling people names, OK.
It IS a jolly, whether Cleverley, Drakeford, whoever. Sunack's just been on 2, and another's been called for today by Camilla Harris. Luxury flights, best hotels, foods, parties [sorry, meetings and connecting], and a bit of footy thrown in.
But do we seriously expect some [very] minor official in Qatar to pay any attention to what Mr Squirrel has to say about human rights ? No.
I grew up in a mining community and I've done far more for the labour and radical movements than you ever will so you don't need to lecture me on Thatcher.
Your measure of success for a government seems to be that it needs to be better than the Tories. I'd say that was a tad unambitious. It's that sort of view that gives us such mediocrity in the Senedd. "Yeah they're crap but they're better than the Tories".
Yes Labour are governing a country with many problems. My point is that they are partly responsible. Welsh Labour has presided over a continual decline in all aspects of Welsh life. If you are going to blame it all on central government then it begs the question of why we bother having a Senedd if it can't influence that decline. And of course it ignores the fact that Wales has declined in comparison with other parts of the UK which don't have Welsh Labour in charge.
Not a tory, as said previously, a floating voter, but couldn't vote for the clown.
I just find him embarrassing and he has done nothing for Wales just grind it into the ground.
Roads, NHS, Ambulances, and lockdowns which were longer and harder than in England (and we are paying for that now), five-mile travel rules, stupid cycle lanes, everything he has control over is worse than it's ever been.
We are in a total mess and he's off to Qatar on a Jolly, it's a waste of time and money, and against Labours' principles.
I don't care wether you are Arthur Scargills fecking long lost son you self righteous get
I have done loads for disadvantaged people too so stick that in your pipe
I voted for Welsh devolution and wish I hadn't but its here now so we have to live with it
Even if we had a left of centre labour liberal government in Westminster and in Cardiff things wouldn't be perfect
For every person slagging off drakeford there's another saying he dragged us through covid
If you can keep to the particular issue of is anyone else going to Qatar and what do they hope to achieve than this could move away from having at go at him and his party which is exactly what you have done
I have been out you dozy plum
I voted for devolution as I thought it was worth giving Wales some autonomy
But after ten years I didn't like the way it was going
How else was I to make a decision ?
Leave it 3 weeks , 50 years ?
What the clown are you on about ?
There’s 1000’s maybe millions that float sludge as you well know just look at the last election, where did all those Tory’s come from hey? Not just Cowbridge you know…seats that had never been blue up north etc….I don’t think these people actually wanted Boris but they were probably voting against someone more (ie Corbyn) which is what I’ve done on the few occasions I’ve bothered to partake in the farce. Voted to get the Tories out, Blair out….voted for clegg….what difference does it ever make? Nothing
Will olde Duckie stop this one as well ? Two frogs may die

I always thought you were an amiable idiot. But you're quite a nasty bit of work aren't you? The rest of my assessment was pretty accurate though.
The thread relates to Drakeford going to Qatar which, if you were able to read words of more than one syllable, you'll have seen that I supported. I haven't had a go at him you illiterate halfwit, I supported him and had a go at his party's record, which is abysmal.
You can go back to your crayons now.
