Going to be an interesting watch tomorrow to see how he copes under questioning. They won't tolerate non-specific and vague answers, as he used to get away with in the Commons and elsewhere.

Of course he'll wriggle out of it. It's almost impossible to prove he mislead the house deliberately.Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostHe will wriggle out of it
As long as there are people out there that think despite being a serial liar ......he's a good bloke you could have a pint with ....he will get away with it
It'll make good tv anyway.

One problem he's got is that even if it wasn't intentional it is likely to be construed as reckless. I think the committee will find against him but fall short of imposing a 10 day Parliamentary sanction.Originally posted by Gofer Blue View PostIt was inevitable that his defence would hinge on the phrase "I did not mislead intentionally".
That will avoid a by election but politically he's toast.

Yes, I think that’s the most likely outcome. However, a couple of things I find really hard to reconcile are, first,Johnson uses the word “party” to describe one of the “work events” in the so called devastating document that was supposed to be his salvation and, second, the soonest he could admit that he might have, unintentionally, misled Parliament was almost six months after the event and only after Sue Grey had published her report. At that time, Ms Grey was not the Labour spy she is portrayed as now, she was an unimpeachably fair arbiter who would deliver the final verdict - either way, Johnson surely knew that what he told Parliament in early December wasn’t the whole truth well before another half a year had passed?Originally posted by Dorcus View PostOne problem he's got is that even if it wasn't intentional it is likely to be construed as reckless. That’s the thing, not for the first time, Johnson is relying on him having to be seen as a total idiot to get off - he may be many things, but he isn’t that.

The Tory’s have lied and defrauded the British public for years
Nothing is going to happen
Thousands of people up and down the country received fines for breaching lockdown rules
The Police had to rescind every single fine because Boris led the way with his own breaches
There’s far more pressing issues to deal with in the UK and abroad so why are we wasting time and money in pursuing this shite
The best outcome will be change next year with the inevitable labour election win

Having looked at the synopsis of the Committee evidence on Sky this morning I think Johnson hasn't got a leg to stand on.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostYes, I think that’s the most likely outcome. He should get the 10 day suspension in a perfect world but I think for political reasons it won't happen so as to avoid a Commons vote which could unleash a Tory implosion.
