Jacks mum Lisa spoke in Parliament about these dogs in June so why all of a sudden have the Tory’s spoken out on this matter? I know because there is a general election looming. Action should have been taken a long time ago.

It is a real tragedy, I think it has gained traction as there have been more incidents, Braverman's interest follows the recently filmed attacks in Birmingham. It's too late really but they should all be acting now.

Because he's just come out and said it to the public, the Tories might have been sending emails to each other for years, Braverman was the first to come out and say it, he's been very vocal about 20mph and done something about it, nothing on dogs until she said it.

These dogs are weapons that fire indiscriminately. Idiots are a constant, and I’ve no appetite for eliminating the world of idiots. It’s theirs are much as it is ours. The trick is to limit the damage idiots can do. Obviously banning them owning any sort of dog is sensible, but it doesn’t mean that stopping the supply of aggressive, murderous dogs to anyone pis a bad thing. America has dicked around with a similar thoughts with guns and look where that got them. They are in a mess, and in the early throes of civil war. There is no good reason to own a dog that is trained to bite and hold and at about age 7, has a very strong. tendency to chew on other dogs and children.

Your ideas are not capable of being policed which is why we already have a list of banned breeds. It works. Banning idiots never will. So you can have a world with idiots and guns/bully XLs, or you can have a world with idiots and no guns/bully XLs. A world without idiots is a pipe dream.

A dog breeder openly admitted on LBC that he breeds dangerous XL bully pets for drug dealers so he can "put bread on the table" for his family.

LBC presenter Iain Dale was so incensed after speaking to caller David he told him to "go to hell."

David from Hull rang in to LBC last night and said: “I’m a breeder. I’ve bred many dogs over the years including XL bullies.

"I bred many of them dogs. Some of them I’ve bred in the most beautiful environment have gone on to attack people.

"I know for a fact I’ve bred them very well.

"There’s many breeds of dogs where you get terrible owners however you do not see them attacking people.

"These XL bullies are a different breed, trust me."

He said he bred them because he ‘absolutely loves dogs’ but Iain asked him: “Who were you aiming them at -who did you want to sell them to.”

“Drug dealers, i’ll be absolutely honest Iain.”

“You’ve just admitted you bred them to sell to drug dealers - what kind of person does that make you?” Iain asks.

“Who’s going to put bread on the table for my family. I’ve got six kids,” he said.

Iain replied: “Oh, go to hell David” and ended the call.

The astonishing call to LBC came on the same day an 11-year-old victim of a dog attack in Birmingham told of her terrifying ordeal.

Ana Paun, was attacked by the American bully XL and Staffordshire bull terrier crossbreed puppy in Bordesley Green on Saturday.

She suffered serious injuries to her arm and shoulder, while two other people were also injured after the dog broke free from its collar twice.

Speaking to Sky News on Monday, Ana said: "I got terrified and he jumped on the arm and he bit me.

"I was screaming and I couldn't do anything, the dog kept on staying on my arm."

The schoolgirl told BBC News: "The dog was staring at me and I got scared, so I started to run. And then I never ran that far, I ran like five seconds. So the dog grabbed my hand and he started moving me about.

"Someone grabbed him off my hand, and after he let go of my arm he went on my shoulder and he bit my shoulder as well.

"I was feeling really panicked and I was scared, terrified, I had a lot of emotions. The owner should be more responsible of the dog, because the owner was not doing anything."

Ana's mother said her daughter was taken to hospital in an ambulance and needed around eight stitches.

Speaking at the family home, Monica Paun, 34, told the PA news agency: "She was with her big sister at the shop and the dog attacked.

"She came shouting 'mum'. I am still in shock."

Ana spent a night in hospital after the attack and has been given antibiotics, her mother added.

Ana is now at home recovering after the incident, footage of which was circulated on social media after being filmed by an witness.

No arrests have been made, but West Midlands Police said on Monday that the force will speak to the dog's owner "in due course" as they are in hospital.

"This was an alarming and shocking incident on a busy road in high temperatures and members of the public showed immense courage in tackling such a ferocious dog," a force spokesman said.

The incident prompted Home Secretary Suella Braverman to seek "urgent advice" on whether the breed should be banned.

Downing Street said the Government takes the issue of American bully XL dogs "extremely seriously".

"The footage we saw over the weekend was shocking. I know that the police are investigating that specific incident," the Prime Minister's official spokesman said.

"We take this issue extremely seriously. We have commissioned urgent advice on what steps we can take on dangerous dogs. I think the Home Secretary set that out yesterday. And beyond that immediate work, we do have a number of measures to protect people under the Dangerous Dogs Act."

Speaking during a visit to an east London school, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer told reporters: "I think there's a strong case for banning this particular breed.

"Anybody who saw footage of what happened is really shocked at what had happened and I think nobody would say that's perfectly acceptable and nothing needs to be done.

"I want to see what the Government is going to put forward. I hope we can do this speedily and constructively."

Adding the bully XL to the banned list is the responsibility of Environment Secretary Therese Coffey's department where, PA understands, there are concerns over the feasibility of the move.

The dog, which is developed from the American pit bull terrier, is not a recognised as a specific breed by the Kennel Club.

It could be hard to define and some fear a ban could inadvertently outlaw a range of other dogs.

Emma Whitfield, whose 10-year-old son Jack Lis, was fatally attacked by a bully XL named Beast in Caerphilly, South Wales, two years ago, criticised the delay in making the dogs illegal.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ms Whitfield said: "Where were you when my son was killed? Where were you when other innocent people were killed?

"Where were you when I was at Parliament asking for change? Nowhere.

"If you're going to do something, please do it. Stop pussyfooting around the 'breed neutral' bull crap and do something."

All the rage seems to be small versions Pocket Bully XL, I saw bloke with about four of these in Cardiff Bay, he said he was a breeder, all with the ears cropped. This was a good few years ago when I didn't know what they were.

Hi I’ve adopted a pocket bully female 15months old she’s lovely with my kids me and my wife but can’t stand anyone else my wife can’t walk her as she goes for everyone when she does nearly bit an old guys hand today is there any reason for this?

My 12 week old boy has started growling and barking and nipping when people come down to his level and try stroking him. Not sure if it's a protective thing or if he genuinely feels nervous about strangers approaching him but he's so young that I never expect from such a young age �� he's loving and affectionate with myself and partner but isnt keen on strangers lol xxx

She like my rescue mine was dumped with her ears cut off she accepted my pack ie dogs n partner but anyone else or dog approaches her she gets protective n nerves my best advice is if you love her embrace a muzzle I know they look bad but the person will look worse it's the difference between life n death for our babies n breeds I own 3 muzzles embrace get one's with smiles on


Hey everyone. So my girl is 5 months and I'm having to put a muzzle on her when my hubby isn't around as she will attack my two other dogs (pom and boston terrier). The pom and boston have always been so gentle and sweet but since she's been attacking them, they're so nervous now and bark at her when she comes close so I use the muzzle so that they feel safe and so she doesn't go for them. We have a trainer helping us but I'm worried they'll never get on, it's been going on for around a 6 weeks now. She doesn't like me stroking the boys at all so I guess she goes for them for that reason. Has anyone else gone through the same kind of situation? I want to take her out to socialize with other dogs but I'm afraid, any advice please? We go for walks every morning and night and she's great on a lead, but when we see a dog, I just cross the road and turn the other way as I worry she will try to attack them. When she's with hubby, she's good as gold, no muzzle needed at all! The trainer says it's because she loves me more and doesn't want other dogs near me, but I need them to get along otherwise I can't have all three living together sadly.

Already watered down. Existing dogs not going to be put down, but registered. FFS. The XL bully dogs need to be culled, and the penalties for owners of dangerous dogs(of any breed) need to be strengthened massively

Utter rubbish - Certainly, dogs can be dangerous; they frequently bite, very infrequently maim and only extremely rarely, kill people. Certainly, each death is a heart-rending tragedy. But it is nonetheless essential to maintain perspective and to consider the danger of dogs relative to other dangers.

XL Bully dogs have been killing people, do you think if the owner in Caerphilly had a chihuahua the young boy in Caerphilly would have died if it had bitten him?

It's like saying don't ban guns in the UK, teach people to use them responsibly, and get the drug gangs to go gun shooting classes on how to be a lovely citizen.

You are extremely naive and obviously know very little about the subject and yet you put yourself forward as some kind of expert. You deliberately sensationalise a very difficult and sensitive subject, presumably just for your own ‘kicks’. These dogs are not the cause of the problem, it is the way they have been bred and trained by human beings. Any dog can be trained to be savage and aggressive. You comment about the chihuahua is crass - I suggest you let a rabid chihuahua savage you - you might change your mind then. Aggressive dogs can also be retrained and normalised with the right amount of care and attention. I know a number of people who own American bully breeds and they are the most gentle, placid and loving dogs that you could wish to see.One of the main problems with classing any breed of dog as unlawful is that the law is open to interpretation by the people who enforce it, leading to the situation where perfectly placid, normally behaved dogs are taken from their owners for no reason and put down.
