I've just read the actual petition, and it has to be the most poorly written load of nonsense I've ever seen on there, it reads like something from the Wales online comments section, with random BLOCK CAPITALS and somehow stating that this is the end of socialism in Wales.
I'm actually embarrassed for anyone associated with this.

Drink driving are you mental who would object to that, smoking outdoors only is great stop it all altogether, 5p a bag who cares I don't shop, 20mph is utter overcontrolling nonsense the same as don't travel more than five miles, and keeping our economy closed while England was fully functioning.

20mph?? Stop lockdowns now!!
And put a stop to everything NCB doesn't do, as long as he can knock down who he likes

on these threads there are always a lot of people outing themselves as bad drivers.
if you can't safely read road signs, or keep your car at 20mph and keep your attention on the road then perhaps you should go back to your driving instructor and ask for a few more lessons

There is an excess of street furniture at times though. In Holland they stripped a lot of it out except essentials in some places and let people use common sense. It seemed to work very well.

yes I'm all for a removal of street furniture, especially speed bumps, far too many of them around.

would be nice if they occasionally fixed some potholes as well

as for using fuel, you'll remember from your GCSE physics that energy is proportional to the square of velocity, so even if the journey is taking longer it will use more energy to do it more quickly.

If a car had one gear you might have a point, but it doesn't, so it's nonsense.

For example - suppose I drive for 5 miles at a constant 30mph. One day I drive the whole 5 miles in 4th gear, the next I drive it in 1st. According to your comment, I'd use the same amount of fuel both times.

Cars use gears. The energy used by the engine results in revs per second. 2000 revs per second uses the same amount of fuel regardless of gear.

the doctors saying this are full of shit.

lots of evidence to show that collisions at 20mph are a lot less dangerous than those at 30, not to Mention the fact that they happen much less frequently
