Re: Diane Abbott
I was listening to the Rest is Politics podcast yesterday in which Alistair Campbell (hardly a political soul mate of Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott) said Corbyn and John McDonnell were always voting against the Blair Government, but there was never any thought given to booting them out of the party because they had no real influence and so were not preventing them from governing as they wanted to - he didn’t mention Abbott who, from memory, was not in the habit of rebelling against the Government as much as the other two were. Campbell did not say it in so many words, but his implication was that the leadership of the current Labour Party were overreacting in treating Diane Abbott as they appear to be doing and I agree with him.
