He hasn't resigned.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostNo and yes.
But he should
He has lost the confidence of two ex ministers one of whom he appears to have flung under the bus.
They are apparently allowed to vote remotely or they could have nominated a proxy.
But.....they didn't.
Labours attempt to blame the opposition for not pairing do not wash. As I have said above, there were alternatives.
I also found the attempt by at least one Labour MS to blame the vote on racism pretty contemptible as well

Re: A Big Stink - Vaughn Gething
I can't see him lasting much longer. He's lost Plaids support, and all the opposition parties are now content voting together.
He quite clearly has lost support of some in his own party too. I have to say those who spoke today didn't seem to do so with enormous enthusiasm for him personally. The most impassioned speech was a Labour MS bemoaning that this was all taking place at the same time as D Day commemorations. [Edit:can just see that's been mentioned above]
The timing is quite extraordinary with a general election going on

No and yes unless he returns the money and say he made a mistake in accepting it.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostWell, he lost the vote.
Will he resign? Should he?

Re: A Big Stink - Vaughn Gething
Wasn't it the earliest the Tories could have it? I found that speech a bit embarrassing to be honest, I'd argue judging our First Minister's record, competence and posdible cortuption is more important that what would have amounted to a photo opportunity in Portsmouth (which is all these politicians see it as). Also incredibly telling that none of the Labour MSs engaged with the charges put forward by Plaid and the Tories and instead spoke about different things entirely. Watson with the D Day speech, David accusing people of racism, Hedges calling Rhun the most right wing leader Plaid have had (maybe take a look at Gething & Starmer before throwing that accusation around). It wasn't much of a defence.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostI can't see him lasting much longer. He's lost Plaids support, and all the opposition parties are now content voting together.

Labour were dealt a bad hand and played it poorly, the Tories the most impressive I can remember seeing them in the Senedd (that's not saying much mind)

It was the earliest they could have it after signalling their intention to have the vote.Originally posted by The Bloop View PostThe MS who criticised RT Davies for bringing the vote today, when Gething was due to be at D-Day service was spot on. The Tories had no answer.
It was Labour that had no answer and they resorted to avoiding the point consistently.
