Sludge, all you’ve got to do with Mordaunt if you want to criticise her isgo on and on about her bizarre speech to the Conservative Party conference last year. Had no intention of watching last night’s shambles, but I always think of Mordaunt as being one of the few competent current day Tories, however I’ve heard it said on a couple of podcasts that she is lazy with a short attention span, hence her record in Cabinet which has seen her moved around such a lot.

Her speech to the tory conference was her losing the plot

She was poor again yesterday , going on about the labour tax lies started by sunak and ridiculed by the press

She doesn't impress me at all

Sadly big mouth raynor was unable to let her talk nonsense then go in for the kill with facts

You seem obsessed with the notion that Tories have to be posh because of the way they talk!

Now she has to have been around posh people because of it and her father must have been an officer.

From what I can see, her father was just a Paratrooper (no story I have seen say he was an officer) and as I said he was a teacher, who became a youth worker.

Perhaps there is a posh youth workers club in Portsmouth!

incidentally she is related to two prominent Labour MP's from the early 20th century, Philip Snowden first Labour Chancellor and George Lansbury Labour leader. Very posh!

She must have had posh speaking parents or went to elocution lessons if she didn't go to public school

I don't rate her and like raynor on the other side she was embarrassing last night shouting at each other and over each other

Well.....what a bunch of lightweights aoart from Farage and to a lesser degree Mourdaunt. The latter however is lazy and has the attention factor of a fruit fly. Farage is / was the only one to tell it straight and openly, including knowing where most of the knife crimes originate.....but ssshhh....can't mention that.

As for Angela Raynor...oh dearie me.....inarticulate, no intellect....and to think if Starmer keeled over she could be leading the country....

Some of the smaller parties spoke well last night.

Mordaunt lacked class and outright lied on several occasions. She should have had her mic feed cut on several occasions as she was just plain rude and disrespectful to the other candidiates.

Raynor didn't say much, I think that's Labour's tactic in this campaign, and mostly kept her dignity even when Mordaunt was at her worst.

We need some of the smaller parties to gain traction as the policies of Labour and the Tories are currently too similar

I think there is a bit of partisanship there mind, although he did offer something more unique than the others looking back on it.

Did Mordaunt talk much about Brexit? Shouldn't we be seeing all the benefits of what she and her Government won the last election on by now and fill us in on how everything is going to get even better over the next 5 years.

Seems the Tories are not talking Brexit because it's not gone well while the other parties don't want to talk about it in case they lose votes.

What did he said that was "bile"? Basically said that adding 1.5m people to a population in the space of two years created huge issues.

No one talks about it cos it's a non issue and they all know it. Any party who seriously proposes rejoining will be battered back by stats that do show (even if you don't look at them) that the EU is doing no better and on many cases worse.

Scottish Nationalists make a noise of it as their base like, although ironically the Scottish parliament would lose huge powers as a result.

Everyone knows it's a non issue and more about tweaking issues, exploiting other opportunities and building good relations going forward

I don’t think you understood the format. The questions were directed by Mishal, based on selected questions from the audience. If it isn’t a question they wanted, then the subject would have been avoided. The leaders / deputy leaders cannot be blamed.

Knowing that was the format I took a mental note of what was in and out though. I may have missed some but these were questions I noticed that were in and out:

IN : NHS, Immigration, Crime and Policing, Education, War / Conscription, Green Energy, Taxation


OUT:

1. Brexit / EU potential re-integration. Labour are not being pressed by any of the media on this, but the Tony Blair Institute and Mandelson’s Global Counsel are advising Starmer on policy, are globalists and plan to install 600 policy advisors across all departments when Labour win. Blair made this claim in the FT. It’s a game changer, but is not being scrutinised.

2. Potentially taxing ISAs (a Corbyn policy, not mentioned by Starmer, but not clearly omitted either. I think this will be a surprise hit because they are talking wealth taxes, but at the moment are only flirting with pensions and IHT.)

3. The deficit and national debt. The biggest economic issue we face for the last 14 years that never gets discussed, probably because most people don’t understand it.

4. Foreign policy. We face a huge triple geo-political threat with Iran, China and Russia, in Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel. We aren’t discussing the big topics. Increasingly, Georgia and Turkey are coming under Russian pressure as Russia intend to connect supply lines with Iran via the Caucuses (they already have with China). In addition Russia are working with China in Africa by hobbling Djibouti, Eritrea, Chad and now South Sudan by exchanging money and stealing gold in return for stationing naval ports on the Red Sea. King sized problems for maritime trade, oil markets looming. A lot going on, and pressing all leaders for their thoughts approach to this is nationally vital, but never discussed.
