    Re: Cabinet appointments

In a few weeks time - we will start to hear the excuses.
'weve had a look at the books and it's worse than we thought'
'we dont want to increase tax - but the previous lot have lied to all of us'
'there has been a change in global markets so this increase is out of our control'

As for Raynor and qualifications - the only thing she left school with was a baby....

Maybe she'll surprise everyone with her intelligence and intellect. Will be interesting to see how she delivers.

Much as I dislike Starmer, and distrust the incoming Labour administration, this one is 100% on your lot!
A few weeks early, this bloke thinks only a third should be in prison.

Then he employs them, could that be a conflict of interest, let them all out they can be cheap labour for my business?

If he lets them all out and opens up borders they better build another 3 million houses a year, not 1.5million for their five year term.

The flaws appearing on the first weekend :hehe:

Already shown more integrity and leadership that we have seen in years by day 2.
When Sunak brought David Cameron back as Foreign Secretary and ennobled him Labour criticised the fact that he was not accountable to the Commons as Lords cannot appear before the lower house.

Now we have 4 Lords appointed

          Richard Hermer Attorney General

          Jacqui Smith Education Minister

          Patrick Valance Science Minister

          James Timpson Prison Minister

None of whom will be directly accountable to the commons

They will now have to take the Labour whip

They may not have been slavishly loyal in the past. But they will have to be now, or resign. And I won't make any comment about politicians lying on Sunday Morning TV. We can all make our own minds upon that one!

As for integrity, here is a report from the Guardian by the former Chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, Sir Alistair Graham o Jacqui Smith's role in the expenses scandal. Note the article contains the term 'near fraudulent'

She apparently threatened to take legal action but never did.

If Rishi Sunak had appointed four Lords to ministerial posts in one fell swoop including a former senior minister described in the terms Sir Alistair uses some of you would ( quite rightly) have been up in arms

You are going to have to do better than this

You have propped up a corrupt tory government by voting for them

Labour have only just got in

This has sour grapes written all over it

It's the secretaries of state that are accountable, not Ministers.
There were many Lords created by Sunak and his predecessors to enable them to take ministerial positions.

              Here's a prime example

She's been OK at disagreeing with the Tories when she's been on politics live. Not sure how effective she'll be as the one in charge.

I’m not sure what influence James Timpson will have on opening borders, that’s quite an odd comment.

He does have good experience of his business rehabilitating ex offenders though, which gives a lot more credence to his opinions than your post, imo.
