I have lost track of this war. It is like WW1 with one side advancing short distances before being sent back. It is senseless and I can't believe a deal cannot be reached to stop it

a deal isnt taking place, Ukraine want all the occupied land back, including Crimea :thumbup: and why shouldn't they ?


unless Ukraine take more and more Russian land and maybe do a deal where they exchange that, not sure Putin can be trusted on any deal though

If Trump pulls out I would have thought that they will have to do a deal, where are they going to get the money and equipment to continue?

Putin has now taken chunks out of Ukraine' in 2014 and in this decade. What's to stop him coming back for more whatever pans out in the immediate future? The concept of a 'deal' may be rather fanciful.

My best guess, based on nothing concrete is that it may end up a little like the Bosnia solution where a chunk of the country is under significant independent day to day control but the Republika Srpska is still internationally recognised as a part of the Bosnian state. There would need to be a massive UN presence.

For this to happen though would need Putin to eat a considerable amount of humble pie and until there is war exhaustion on both sides this may take a considerable amount of time.

It's all anyone's guess but I do see the Ukraine situation as very different to Bosnia (another place that is interesting to visit due to its cultural divisions). Russia is a different beast altogether and covers what it sees as the epicentre of Rus culture - and keep coming back for more.
