I find it an interesting topic, and it can be intellectually stimulating to challenge why what you hold to be true is so.
And of course it is largely harmless on here as none of us have a large reach unlike for example Alex Jones re: Sandy Hook.

We've had people convinced that Bill Gates is inserting chips into peoples bodies - even convincing themselves that they had a bluetooth addresss somehow emanating from their person, from self assembling nanobots.

Other billionaires like George Soros viewed with a huge level of suspicion on anything that he's involved with.

We've had powerful politicians linked with paedophile rings in the basement of pizza establishments that have no basements.

We've had people claiming they know the exact date that the earth's poles will flip, causing widespread destruction - when even the foremost scientists in this area have no idea whatsoever when that is likely to happen.

At this point we've had so many weird and wonderful theories that nothing is a surprise any more.

Except there is something surprising by omission.

Take Elon Musk for example - the richest man in the world.
Literally putting computer chips into peoples brains.
Buying a huge social media outlet (with help from Gulf oil states) and openly using it to help get a president elected who has questionable links to actual sex traffickers like Epstein. While simultaneously turning the social media outlet into an open sewer of racism and prejudice.

Where are the theories on these guys? are they too easy, not enough mental gymnastics required?
Surely at least some of the curious and free thinkers on here might postulate something. But yet there isn't anything I'm aware of.
Or is it that most conspiracy theories are by there nature implicitly politically motivated?
Mate, you should be having this conversation with a therapist, not posting on some random internet message board. I wish you luck and I hope everything works out well for you

PS nobody should explicitly trust Musk, or anybody else for that matter.

The media generally support the establishment narrative, so anybody who questions it is right wing?

Sadly some people simply can't allow themselves to be ridiculed even in a light hearted way

I'm not sure where it begins and ends. Having an alternative view is perfectly acceptable, so too is being sceptical of power and open to challenging narratives. There are certainly things we don't all know about. Anyone who has any friends in the military will tell you that.

As for being political, I don't think most are. The classic perhaps is the moon landings one. That's apolitical. The one about Diana being killed by the British state cos she may have had a Muslim baby...that didn't fit clearly on the party political spectrum either.

Some of the more prominent (and frankly sick) ones have come from Alex Jones, but the left does this too. Corbyns brother is absolutely one. Owen Jones dabbles, a lot of the whole Zionist world power stuff is now also more like to come from the left than right, or at least equally so. "The US did 9/11 to itself to excuse middle eastern wars". That comes mainly from the left too.

Others such as "the Tories want to privatise the NHS" are commonly shared on the left, but it absolutely is a conspiracy theory. Or is it? Again, where does it begin and end? Most of things things can point to some evidence.

I guess this is where th culture war stuff comes in. People see conspiracy theories as being from "the other side" and dismiss ones they believe in as legitimate.

As for Musk, he is heavily criticised and admired. I think because he is quite vocal on free speech, he doesn't attract the attention. He doesn't give off the impression of trying to hide stuff. But then maybe he is the one to watch the most?! But then, isn't that a bit of a conspiracy theory in itself?
As NASA was a governmental body (and involved in the space race with Russia) and the Royal Family is part of 'The British Establishment' there is a political aspect in both cases.

Well yes, everything is political in some senses..but conspiracy theories about the moon landings, Diana's death, alien abductions and the like..I'm not sure these can be placed on any left-right axis..nor can several others either btw.
