Re: Kemi Badenoch it is!
Suppose I very slightly prefer her to be leader than”Honest Bob” Jenrick, the man who broke Covid lockdown rules, the man who was reprimanded by MPs for the way he handled a planning application
Housing committee says it "respectfully disagrees" with the PM that Westferry planning case is closed.
and ordered that cartoons be painted over at a centre for young refugees/immigrant.
Baddenoch could be an effective leader, especially at PMQs, but she’s got a hell of a task and she’ll need to manage her temper a bit better.

The fact that so many M.P’s and advisors broke the rules says everything really.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostSuppose I very slightly prefer her to be leader than”Honest Bob” Jenrick, the man who broke Covid lockdown rules, the man who was reprimanded by MPs for the way he handled a planning application

Yet ,nobody’s on here ( who felt very entitled during lockdown) wanted peeps to undertake unpaid work.

It seems like like nobody in or around government was scared of the killer virus rampaging through the country.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostSuppose I very slightly prefer her to be leader than ”Honest Bob” Jenrick, the man who broke Covid lockdown rules

I meant to write more than this earlier..no doubt everyone was disappointed by my brevity..Originally posted by JamesWales View PostYes
Interesting appointment and interesting woman for me. Says what she thinks and believes in what she believes in which I think is a trait that all admire whether you agree with them or not. That said, it's easier on the back benches and I do wonder how well she will keep factions at bay.
I also don't think it's fair to say she is gaffe prone, but I think she needs some coaching from more senior MPs to keep her in line a bit.
Interesting anyway and will be fun to see the first few PMQs

Why would anyone admire that, let alone the 'all' that you claim.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostI meant to write more than this earlier..no doubt everyone was disappointed by my brevity..

If true it is a part of her personality and it is important and interesting part of her - but not something to admire for its own sake. You could have made the same claim about Adolph Hitler, but probably not George Washington ('I cannot tell a lie' is invented).

I think Our Jimmy has just confirmed he'll move with Kemi and Nigel to the margins of mainstream politics. I will miss his "brevity"Originally posted by jon1959 View PostWhy would anyone admire that, let alone the 'all' that you claim.

Re: Kemi Badenoch it is!
The Tory MPs gave their party a choice of bad and worse.
For once the membership decided to opt for the less stupid option - the bad not the worse.
For all the culture wars and motormouth attacks on random parts of society (new mothers and autistic kids recent poll toppers) she at least has a set of genuine (extreme) political opinions and an agenda that hasn't been moving around (mainly to the far far right) for the past 6 months like Jenrick. She is simply a very right wing Tory. She is box office - though probably self-destructive box office.
Badenoch is unlikely to recast the Tory Party as Reform Mk 2, to leave the ECHR or to pander to neo-Nazis to anything like the same extent as Jenrick was headed towards. He was also like Braverman on steroids when it comes to Israel/Palestine. The Tories have probably dodged a bullet - but they are still facing a firing squad of bullets, but just with one less than with the other candidate.
I expect she will turn out to be more competent than many predicted - once the party managers get to work.
