Where is this thread going? Are some people saying that society is getting more violent, or is this another pop at immigrants an indirect way of saying that they're committing violent sexual crime? I really don't understand it. I wish people would just say what they're thinking.

I dont subscribe to the view that crime is getting much worse..but seeing the same people who are more than happy to constantly imply that racism is off the scale and fascism is just around the corner dismiss it says a lot really

I abhor how this has been twisted into an immigrant thing. It's a general societal problem, not something exclusive or even overly represented in immigrants.

It depends where you live really. If there was almost zero crime and now residents are holding meetings with councillors about crime and anti-social behaviour, then crime is getting worse. If you live in an area where crime has always been prevalent then it's not increasing.

TBH Tuerto, it's always been about society in general for me, I cannot speak for others, I am 100% convinced that society is far more dangerous today than it has been in the past, unfortunately others (Mostly Sludge) always try and steer to migrants and whatever, Doris was very nearly a victim last week in Edinburgh whilst walking about in Leith, Of course I was with her but I didn't do my homework and essentially should have been nowhere near the area we was in, I'll tell you when i see you next because an explanation on here will get twisted by those who see race colour etc. in every single post. Obviously i know your family situation as you know mine, my grand daughters are now of the age at wanting to be out in town, gigging and clubbing etc. I will not be convinced by anyone that young girls being out and about are as safe as my grand parents thought when i was doing the same thing, i know and understand we have always had nutters doing terrible things but nothing like we have today, it would seem on here its more of a crime to be concerned and that the rise in crime has to be excepted for some reason, for the sake of clarity, getting murdered, stabbed, assaulted doesn't have a sliding scale depending on who commits it.

Young lads in their twenties are in far more danger of assault than anyone else

But thankfully youngsters are wisely drinking less alcohol these days

How many Grand daughters do you have between the ages of say 16 to 24 ?

I have 3 teenage nieces and I don't want them to unnecessarily live their lives in fear. Take adequate precautions, stay in groups if you have to, but this very deliberate movement to try and make young girls petrified of going outside has to stop.

My sister's drink was spiked when she was first going to pubs 25 years ago, her friends were on it and saved her from something awful. My dad was robbed at knifepoint in the long tunnel at vauxhall tube station 20 years ago. I am well aware that crime exists and always has done.
