    Re: Elon Musk

Is it just me or does anyone else think that all this hype/mania recalled the infamous South Sea Bubble episode?

      Re: Elon Musk

Just to put it into context, if those $1trn assets return 5% dividends per annum, Musk makes $50bn a year, or $137m each day, $5.708m per hour, $95,129 per minute and $1,585 per second.

That's just the return and not the capital growth. Musk can buy a super yacht every day. must be hard for him

Regarding uncle Bernie it would have been more appropriate if I had used the word homes instead of Mansions so I take that one on the chin, he does have a very nice property on a lakeside however, so I take from this he doesn't believe in climate change either 🤣
        Not a bad response Heath; I'll give 9 and three-quarters out of 10 😀👍

I know your last quip was written in jest but the man considers climate change to be an existential threat and is a campaigner for the use of alternative energy sources. The relatively modest one-bedroom/one bathroom property he maintains in Washington enables him to attend the Senate and other political meetings there as his home state is Vermont. It's akin to a Scottish MP having a bolt-hole in London to attend parliament etc.

I was doing a little side hustle last week and which resulted in me being in a car with a client, the clients business is waste to energy and so the small talk on the way to the destination is general everyday issues including the business issue, always an ice breaker when you get to know they are a football fan and have a particular club, my comments/view on the net zero stuff was, it must be our goal to leave this world in a better situation than we inherited it but to put an arbitrary timescale on it is not realistic, recycling is great, developing new methods of manufacture is great, etc. etc. but that it must be done on xx/xx/xxxx is just a money making excersize for those controlling, it i'm all for a better environment and have worked to schedules most of my life, authoring many but if i have 3 miles of weld, the weld is of a certain type and of a particular process, then the norms have been set over many years and not by someone waking up one morning and announcing you will finish that 3 miles of welding by xx/xx/xxxx leaps in technology are factored in, you spotted straight away i was just chucking in a throwaway line to annoy the natives on here, if i have one serious comment to make on climate change, and is that i find it very distasteful the way climate change is being taught in schools and that some children and not so young children are so invested in it that the end of the world is only x years away they have become traumatized by it and what is even more strange is that adults on here of your age (and i'm not suggesting you in particular just general) fall in to this as well even though they have seen the deadline come and go since the 60's. So yes i'm all for a better environment and measure to achieve this goal.
