House committee subpoenas FBI, Justice over Trump dossier

"Illustrating the seriousness with which investigators view the situation, late Tuesday the committee issued two more subpoenas, specifically to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, directing them to appear before the committee to explain why they have not provided the subpoenaed information."

Trump has done the right thing here. Just as with Obama, he has no real power to pass these kinds of laws via executive privalige as they can easily be challenged in court and overturned (remember the immigration fiasco). The best option is to have proper laws made through congress, which is what is going to happen.

BTW during the Clinton email investigation (that thing that won't go away), Comey was offered the missing 30,000 emails from the NSA and he turned them down!
That's one way of looking at it. 10 states were involved with the potential suing of the government. However at least 15 other states say they will sue if the decision is made to scrap it.

The laws "can easily be challenged in court and overturned"...although they never have been.

This is exactly why it's best to let the lawmakers in congress sort it out. Obama bypassed the law with his overreach. In fact, he stopped background checks in 2012, so there were all kinds of criminals coming into America including organised crime syndicates such as MS-13.

They have changed the headline, it was previously as above when the report first appeared. It's the sort of thing you would expect to see in a Hollywood movie script, not in the US congress. I can't understand why the MSM aren't all over this, they were so eager to run with the Trump Russian dossier story which was even more unbelievable. Strange days indeed.

Except that there is nothing new here apart from headline. The original one obviously was not sensationalist enough for even a Hollywood B movie that the more sensible studios would not touch. It would appear that the more the engine runs out of steam the more the remaining script writers think up ever more fantastical plots.

Well, the plot unfolds even further next Thursday. Hopefully we will get a better understand of what is real or not, but the Awan/Wasserman Schultz case is very strange, it has all the ingredients of being a blockbuster!

Anyway, it all seems a little bit too perfect doesn't it? The laptop was found along with enough evidence to explain the who, what, when, where, why, and how of it all. I'm in two minds about what really happened here, there are clearly other forces at play.

Maybe no longer a B movie script if Rep Trent Franks is to be believed (House of Representatives Armed Services and Judiciary Committee Member).
