And yes, I am anchored to a rock that political violence and violent language is wrong. Your best observation yet!Originally posted by stevo View PostSo, did you call out Trump and his followers for the Jan 6th riots?

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Sure, of course any insurrection to overthrow the government is completely outrageous and an affront to democracy. There's varying stories about that day, and videos of that lead guy in the bearskin thing being shown around by police which is curious, but it's plainly totally wrong and was a violent attack on a democratic institution.Originally posted by stevo View Post
Whats also wrong was Trumps inability to accept defeat with grace, his mocking of the disabled and many other things he's said.
Doesn't mean that shooting the guy is the answer!

Quite right. I wish people would stop saying that shooting the guy is the answer!

Do you not think that Trump played his part by inciting those riots?Originally posted by JamesWales View PostSure, of course any insurrection to overthrow the government is completely outrageous and an affront to democracy. So, it looks like that's the end of Jack for now, case dismissed and talk of unconstitutional lawfare attacks.Originally posted by jimmyscoular View PostJack Smith did not pull it from the docket. The judge did. The originally scheduled trial date of March 4 has become untenable due to Trump's assertion of presidential immunity. That assertion must be tested in the courts, including almost certainly the Supreme Court. So, the judge basically put the case on hold until the immunity issue is resolved.

Political murders happen in mad countries
Given that what most people would consider decent human beings get murdered from time to time I think it's not really surprising that a disturbed and motivated person tried to knock off a thoroughly divisive and rotten individual such a trump
He's courted publicity and headlines and controversy and whipped up division
He's absolutely loved it all
But now he is suddenly to be wrapped in a blanket ?
I am afraid this is part of the world he has created
It's missing the point to say that people say he's asked for that, deserved it etc etc
He and his rabid followers are right at the core of all this not a few people on a messageboard using gallows humour

Forget about the bloke in the bearskin conspiracy crapOriginally posted by stevo View PostDo you not think that Trump played his part by inciting those riots?
There were hundreds and hundreds of redneck nutcases on Capitol Hill that day armed and very dangerous
Many innocent people could have died that day
Just because trump and his pathetic spoilt followers didn't like losing
That's the problem in America
That leads eventually to a 20 year old disturbed individual trying to kill someone who is intensely disliked by as many people who worship him like a demi god
It's like an insane side project of Heart Of Darkness
