JD Vance and Trump will be a right pair, Ukraine will face serious problems and have to make some quick decisions and the American-first policy with 100% levies to China and levies for the rest of the World will change the Global economy, it's going to be a bumpy ride!!!

Trump has just stated,if elected the war between Ukraine/Russia will be over within a day.

In terms of bringing the Russia/Ukraine war to and end, I think a Trump presidency would be a good thing.

In terms of bringing the war to and end and seeing Ukraine's pre -war borders restored, I think it's a very bad thing.

Thats the balance to weigh up, fundamentally. Do you let Putin get away with it, or do we have a perpetual war the west will never win as things stand?

A third option is if the West put it's full weight behind Ukraine, but that of course brings other consequences.

I don't know what the best answer is.

I'd say it's up to Ukraine to decide if option 1 is on the table or not.

They would obviously strongly object to that scenario.

Then I don't think a Trump presidency would be a good thing.

I don't think Ukraine will be totally screwed if Trump gets in. The Americans aren't the only people providing them support and weapons. Might just need us and the Europeans to step up a bit more than we are currently.

I guess the US could put economic pressure (or something other type) on the others to stop supporting Ukraine.

Definitely a possibility, although would be a very big move. Would also have the effect of completely outing him as a Putin enabler rather being able to fall back on saying he's just interested in peace. Hopefully pressure for peace from the US, coupled with support for Ukraine from Europe might actually see a possibility of a resolution that's acceptable to the Ukrainians. Then again, I think Putin has trump wrapped around his little finger so the implications may well be disastrous.

There is a fourth options, Trump wins the Presidency and Russia withdraws from Ukraine because they’re scared of him (as is Kim in North Korea it seems) - that’s what he said in his one and a half hour long ramble last night just after Hulk Hogan gave what was described as the best speech of the week at the RNC- I was trying to think what the RNC reminded me of and it was the WWF stuff I used to watch for a laugh about thirty years ago.

I don't think Europe would fill the gap, it would put pressure on a permanent end would Russia keep what it holds, and who will pay for the post-conflict reconstruction of Ukraine, JD Vance and Trump would probably say that's down to Europe they are finished.

“I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other,” Senator Vance has said.

They may well do but I'm just guessing here that there will be some massively obscene contracts dished out to US/UK companies to 're-build' the infra-structure. It's all part of the war economy. Bomb, kill, rebuild. There's money in it. Lot's of it. Plus it tops up Western investment pots etc.
