No you were the "6 people have died all with underlying conditions so calm down you drama queens" chorus. Your ability to grasp the idea that apparently healthy people liberally bouncing against each other might make things worse never creased your brow then so why would it two years later.

In completely unrelated news, tomorrow an announcement will be made that asylum seekers are going to be sent to Rwanda. Now some cynical people may suggest that this is the very reddest of the so called 'red meat strategy'.

Obviously though the timing is just a complete coincidence :hehe:

Dehumanising human beings straight from the Farage/UKIP play book. All done by the daughter of migrants.

This Tory government makes me ashamed to be British.

Is it dehumanising? Or is it a tough measure done in conjunction with another country to actually try and stop the trade in human beings.

You tell me. And given that there are predictions of 1,000 people a day crossing by the summer, you tell me what we do with everyone, where we house them, how we process them etc.

As usual, howls of outrage but zero solutions. And maybe these wont be a solution, but maybe it's also worth trialling it?

I'm tired that there just seems to be this position for some, and they claim the moral highground for it, thats it's okay for thousands to cross the channel from a safe country, to pay thousands to people trafickers, for us to somehow feed and process unlimited numbers, for some to die in the channel etc etc.

The situation needs sorting. How you gonna do it?

You think this is about stopping the people who trade in human beings rather than the human beings themselves? How sweet.

tbf this is not novel. Surely there is evidence from the Australian offshoring model to tell whether it is a success and provides value for money or not. At least politicians and others won't claim this as a Brexit prize given that Denmark is exploring something similar can they?

As seems to be the vogue these days personally I see the levels of asylum seeking in this country that is an issue that causes more heat than light. It certainly figures a lot lower for me than the integrity and fitness of the people who are currently governing us and using whatever culture war levers they have to distract from their own incompetence and immorality.

Yes there is evidence in respect of it, which is probably why they want to trial it.

What is your solution? Or is it cool to let whomever wants to come pay thousands of pounds to criminals and just rock on over? Or should we allow them to apply in France? And then what if those refused just come on over anyway?

Here's that bleeding heart liberal David Davis on the Australian "trial"

This is a populist solution seeking a problem. The relatively small numbers of people now disproportionately travelling by boat rather than historically by air because of the hiatus in air travel presents practically no burden on our state, beyond those mega-amplified in the pages of the Daily Mail and Daily Express. Statistically we process one asylum application for almost two in the EU though I suspect with a lot more political noise from the ruling party mindful of its Farage flank.

I suspect you are in a small minority of those pleased with this if your prime advocacy is to stop the people traffickers rather than following the xenophobic piper to the ballot box. I accept that I am in a minority in thinking this country is able to manage these relatively small numbers, especially since we seem to have scared Eastern European fruit pickers, lorry drivers and slaughtermen away in enough numbers to create labour shortages in those sectors.

There you go train them in areas of work shortage rather than have them being treated like gorillas in the mist.

You havent answered the question. If we have 1000 people a day arriving by boats seeking asylum, what would you do with them? Does it reach a point that it is ever an issue? Do we build a holding centre? Do we do that regionally? Do we let them work? What do we do if it encourages more?

My point is, you aren't offering a solution. Or you are saying there is no problem at all, which is fine I suppose. I just see a lot of people trying to gain the moral highground but offering zero ways to deal with people travelling in boats and the associated trade in people trafficking.

Is it not worth trying to cut off this gross trade?

The cost: It is a waste of 1.4 billion quid by a government that wont help people with their energy bills.

I’ve got an idea, put them up in The Ritz it would be cheaper.

Wake up Tory voters they are taking you for fools. Blaming immigrants for all the ills in this country is pathetic. It’s not a problem never has been. Get them processed quicker and working so they can make and pay their own way.

Oh and I’ve got another idea, why not send all the drug dealers to Rwanda and some of the other scum bags we’ve got over here instead.

There's a potential loss of votes if this happens for some parties ?

It costs millions to police and manage the channel folk also die and crimes are committed.

There is a soft argument this is a safer for refugees.

Whose to say it doesn't pit people traffickers off ?.

Whose to say it doesn't brings order and control to a crap system ?

So much criticism no real alternative suggestion ??

                          This is Brexit Britain.

Control of our borders. So 1000 illegal migrants a day.

Send em to Rwanda. Great stuff.

Will it stop the illegal transport of migrants. Seriously apart from the right wing loons does anyone believe that.

No suprise to see the defence of it and yes makes you ashamed to be British.

Isn't this more about democracy if immigration was the only issue which I'm my opinion it wasn't.

Ask all the Welsh voters why they voted out many of them Labour voters or right wing Labour 🤔

So Rwanda can take tens of thousands in the coming years.

James is predicting 1000 illegal migrants a day.

This is going to go well.

Whats your solution? Carry on as we are? Keep enriching the global human trafficking trade? Allow everyone in?
