Morally, there is no way that travelling across the country and drinking booze and eating pizza in the evening prior to an election with people is less of an issue than people working together in the most important office in the country who are tested daily, sharing a cake.

    Nonetheless, there we are.
You forgot to say just how much you don't care about it. You're letting yourself down James.

Worst possible result I would have thought, most people think he was the same as Boris, and they were all at it.

Even worse they can't ditch him now for a more appealing leader that could cut through.

He's out of his depth and a boring liability, anyone half decent for the Conservatives would put them in the driving seat.

      Interesting couple of months/years.

It's obvious that the Met only fined Johnson and his cronies because the force is a corrupt collection of anti-Tory lefties. And the Durham Constabulary only let Starmer and Rayner off because that force is also a corrupt collection anti-Tory lefties. One rule for Labour, another for the Tories. Or something like that.

Played right into their hands the Dailly Mail and Sun can refer back to this for years One rule for them one rule for us could stick, when Ben or Tom can bury it all with Boris and a clean slate.

I wonder if any Tories, who were also fined for breaking lockdown rules, are considering standing for the leadership?

Well quite, The true score should probably be about 5-1 to Boris on FPNs rather than 1-0 based on everything we know.

Same old Tories, same old Sleazebags. Good old Kier is standing sky high in dignity today. Even though he's a less than compelling Labour leader.

How sh*t must they be if they can't even share a cake properly?

I am not quite seeing 'Starmer isn't doing anything' as a problem right now, just how far ahead should he be in the polls? The fact that Labour haven't had to woo anybody with policy yet to gain a steady lead of 5-8 points can only be a good thing. Tories might get a bounce from a new leader but for that to happen they will need to pick somebody who isn't smothered in Boris' stench.

He was clearly exactly the right leader vs Boris, whether he will be against whoever is next will become clearer soon.

In fairness since Starmer became leader they have seen a fairly steady improvement in the polling.

When he took over the Tories had a 20 percentage point lead, today Labour are 12 % points ahead.

The Tories have got plenty of work to do at this point.

I was surprised when Johnson was fined just the once, but accepted the decision the Met made, you should do the same here. The Police (the same force that took no action against Dominic Cummings at a time when the Tories were on his side) have investigated the Labour leader and his deputy and decided that there is no case to answer - frankly, your one rule for Labour and another rule for everyone else nonsense is a pretty feeble effort, it’s as if you thought you have to post something because it’s what your expected to do, but your heart wasn’t really in it.
