It was a criticism of a specific politician. It wasn't 'a dig at a country'.

      If you say so .

I was simply pointing out the fact he mentions Ukraine's part in this, but fails to address the mitigating circumstances that has lead up to this which is the invasion of Crimea in 2014 and the fact the Ukrainians disarmed its weapons if neither had happened Russia would not be there now .

If he had supplemented his argument with this and mentioned more about the tragic deaths not just there but in parts of Africa , where Ukraine Grain is key to saving lives and a brick in the wall of their existence , rather than pointing a narrow stupid finger it would have sounded a lot better , drugs , caviar and champers must have been not working well that day for him.

I'm sure an apology is on the way via twitter

For 'specific poltician' read 'specific politicians'.

Ah, so you ignore what he said and ask a question about what he may or may not have said about something else (and what you don't have the answer for). Great analysis.

The man is a lunatic using his rich platform and fans love

Roger Waters, a founding member of Pink Floyd, performed Wednesday night in Nationwide Arena. The concert was full of hits, and political commentary.

He is a gobby rich knob who should move over and let the better Pink Floyd carry on playing music not gobbing off

I know what below is the open letter , he said and its shit and its below and straight from the Corbyn playbook ,why should Ukraine accept being invaded and what its people die , do you think that Putin would stop there if they didn't show a fight or call for more support ,

They should restrain with Crimea and got rid of its nukes isn't that some for of appeasement ( is this the sort of appeasement Walters suggests did that stop Putin god no .

Putin is pure evil and the needs to be taken out.. Perhaps Roger can hep put him up

Earlier this month, Waters, who regularly leads audiences in the refrain “we don’t need no education,” fired off an open letter to Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska after she appeared in a BBC interview and urged continued support for her country. Waters wrote to condemn “the West continuing to supply arms to the Kiev government’s armies,” suggesting that those who do so “have already declared an interest in the war going on for as long as possible.”

He then added a list of action items she should pass on to her husband (why he’s not kvetching to him directly, I couldn’t tell you) and pinned the war's blame on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's refusal to accept a policy of appeasement toward Vladimir Putin. “The extreme nationalists,” he wrote, “have set your country on the path to this disastrous war.”

“Sadly, your old man," he condescendingly continued, "agreed to those totalitarian, anti-democratic dismissals of the will of the Ukrainian people, and the forces of extreme nationalism that had lurked, malevolent, in the shadows, have, since then, ruled the Ukraine.”

Re: Rodger Waters ..........fading rock star

I am no fan of Roger Waters whatsoever and I have no wish to be aligned with him in any way - but I think it would be helpful if his specific comments were to be addressed as this thread is about that very subject.
Some of his comments have resonated with intellectuals and veteran war correspondents and it is useful to learn as much about the war in Ukraine and what led to it happening. The Russians are 'to blame' but there are legitimate questions as to whether the invasion could have been avoided. There was widespread criticism of widespread corruption in Ukraine (including political corruption) and Zelenskey was heavily criticised regarding broken promises to the areas most involved in the conflict at present.
I have visited north and south Ukraine (and stayed with families there), I have Ukrainian friends who had to flee Kyiv (and move to the Romanian border for safety), I volunteer for a charity that helps Ukranians and I worked for the MoD in an 'International Relations' department. None of that makes me an expert in any way shape or form. However, it makes me more interested in not only what is happening but what led to what happened and whether it could have been avoided etc.
I like to take in information from all sorts of sources without aligning myself with any of them. One thing I am certain of is that I certainly don't know enough and am keen to learn as much as I can.
Geo-politics are very complicated and requires a great deal of research, methinks. However, I do get the impression that you have an answer to everything without actually adding any nuance to the debate.
Yes, the Russians are at fault. That goes without saying. However, not being able to criticise those who may have made the invasion and its consequenes more likely is a legitimate comment, regardless of who says it and what other bollocks they may spout.
Your synopses of the subject matter come over as less than nuanced, old fruit.

That's great. Valid comments about what he said. That's all it requires.
