Yes I thought she might be on crack. Remind me, what happened to her husband?

When will the right admit, they have been in power for 13 years and still are no nearer sorting out this problem.

We will take back control of our borders after Brexit they said

Oct 2020: Home Secretary Priti Patel says the asylum system is broken.

Oct 2022: Home Secretary Suella Braverman says the asylum system is broken.

      Look at these two statements:

"Most of the Channel crossings are economic migrants from Albania"

"75% of asylum applicants are successful." (Home Office stats)

If right-wingers could do maths, they'd spot that something doesn't add up.

      Useless right wing nut jobs.

It's a stupid question and idiot fodder, which is why you like it so much.

        - 'the left' isn't some homogeneous group who all think the same thing

        - anybody who enters the country illegally is an illegal immigrant, they can also be a refugee. The two things are not mutually exclusive

Maybe we could get Natalie Elphicke to stand on the shore and point out the bad ones to immigration officials. She has such a good track record, after all it only took her 25 years to work out her husband was a deviant.

Conservative MP Natalie Elphicke was heckled by members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union in Dover following the company's decision to fire 800 workers this week.

“You voted for fire and re-hire,” the crowd can be heard saying in the footage, before the chant of “shame on you” started.

Elphicke joined in the chant, not clocking at first that it was aimed at her.

And this is why politicians particularly those in the cabinet need to be very careful with their right wing facist views and language.

The Albanians are slowly but surely taking over ALL the drug markets in this country, and they are notoriously 'effective' at enforcing them. They need manpower, hence all these guys flocking over here. You can guarantee that those 'political refugees' are all bound for some safe drug house, sooner or later.

I would sort it by only allowing asylum seekers only from war torn countries.

And as we seem to see 80 % being young males I'd not give them priority.. in fact I'd like to to process them off shore.

Those men passing would work and not be able to enable full families to follow.

Women and children from established war countries straight in by passing complicated checks.. they would then by full prosssed at a later stage ..

I think many of them feel they've been prosssed by this Government.

UK has thousands of job vacancies. We need labour. This crisis is Tory manufactured as it’s pretty much the only issue left they can draw any support on.

Reading this thread, they are a long way off admitting it.

The stock argument used until even a week or two ago that people are desperate and fleeing war' has been debunked by the largest group being from Albania - an imperfect country no doubt, but a peaceful european country with a democratically elected socialist government.

The irony is, in turning a blind eye to what in time will (i believe) be seen as mass abuse of the system, they are merely reducing the countries faith in what is a really important process designed to help the most needy. On every level, it's a mess. And yes, the government are in a large part responsible, but at least they acknowledge a problem exists, which is more than many on the other side of the political divide.

Successive cuts and successive home secretaries , all tory , have made this situation far worse

BUT AT LEAST WE RECOGNISE THAT !

So that's it then , turn off the lights

                          A fair point Sludge.

Mine is more that 12,000 Albanians arrived by boat this year compared to 50 in 2020 and 800 in 2021 .

Was clear to anyone that some kind of mass exploitation of the system has been occurring yet people will still hide behind the shield that you can't say anything about the most vulnerable people etc, even when it's people taking the places of the most vulnerable! It's Orwellian!

Hold on a minute, there has been thread after thread where people have given their alternative take on the situation, their reasons (ethical or practical) for not supporting the Rwanda policy and their ideas for how to resolve the illegal migration in the channel (depending on their view of what the problem is). Off the top of my head - increase official routes, work more closely with the French/EU (a few months back our policy seemed to be to blame them), increase staffing/processing speed, bypass lengthy checks when country of origin is known and claim is clearly invalid. You choose to ignore any nuanced take and pretend everybody who doesn't agree exactly with you 'supports the criminal gangs' or is saying that every migrant crossing the channel is a legitimate asylum seeker. In short, you are acting like a child.

To add to that you spend a lot of time telling people they should respect other peoples opinions as not everybody agrees on how to solve a problem. That goes out the window of course when it comes to your own behaviour.

If they obviously have no claim to asylum why can't they just be processed quickly and sent back to their own country? Why is that beyond our government to deliver and why do we have to resort to policies which a) break international law and b) treat every migrant as if they have no claim to asylum and c) obviously won't work. Not expecting an answer.

You need to get a grip.

They have also thrown a lot of their eggs (and our money) into the Rwanda shitshow which appears to be nothing more than a confidence scam on their voter base.
