Re: Jonathon Pie - strikes
You have got my vote young man. My salary would be 40% more than it is currently if it had been linked to inflation since the year 2000. When should I expect my backpay?Originally posted by life on mars View PostThe only strikes I support are the ones that hit the back of the net .. the rest can follow their leaders into the political wildernesses followed by eventual jobs loss ,less job security for younger generations, more automation, inflation, higher prices, pension deficits.
It would have been more caring and just to have waited until after this first Covid free festive period and harden winter pressures due to the war ..
Some folk have not spent Xmas with relatives for years now they thought could travel, by train , only to be thwarted by greed..and political opportunities.
If I was government I'd introduce basic salaries and wage rises based on inflation going up and down ..

I literally have no idea what you're talking about.Originally posted by TWGL1 View PostYet you stated yesterday in a thread (which appeared directed at me ) that you could really give two hoots if people with their own businesses with numerous employees went down the pan.
I think it may not go ahead anyway

I don't understand this at all. Yeah of course people are entitled to their views just as I'm entitled to call them mugs if they cheer for billionaires getting richer while living standards plummet.Originally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostYou've said nothing wrong 'ol fruit. It's your opinion and you're entitled to air it, but don't say anyone who doesn't support the strikes is a mug - it's their view, and like you entitled to voice it if they wish

Who's cheering for the 150 odd billionaires in the UK ? They don't bother me, and each one is probably paying for a small hospital. Getting worked up about people who are rich isn't good for the health.Originally posted by Doucas View PostI don't understand this at all. The people who come out of the cracks every time anybody mentions trying to tax wealth rather than income. Society is so unequal today that the tax system is completely out of date.Originally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostWho's cheering for the 150 odd billionaires in the UK ? Such an ignorant post. So are the newspapers not controlled by the billionaire class? How about our politicians?Originally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostWho's cheering for the 150 odd billionaires in the UK ? So if more billionaires are better for the UK how come literally everything seems to get getting worse including plummeting living standards despite having more richer billionaires than ever? This was happening before Ukraine and covid.
Did it ever occur to you the average person would pay more tax if we didn't have an economic system that hoovers money to the top at the expense of everyone else.
My wealth/income last year was above 6 figures, a third of it was house price increases, another third from investments and the last third from work. Guess which one was taxed the most.
I'm not jealous, I've got my lot, I'm beyond angry.

Re: Jonathon Pie - strikes
Bingo and Rishi's answer was not to increase capital gains tax but to lower the capital gains tax free threshold, i.e. a large effective % change on small investors and barely any change for medium/large investors.Originally posted by Doucas View PostMy wealth/income last year was above 6 figures, a third of it was house price increases, another third from investments and the last third from work. From every angle, lower/middle are being squeezed to death while the government preserve the wealthy.

So.......Originally posted by Dorcus View PostFair point but don't they deserve to get called out/ridiculed if they're dim or selfish enough to have inappropriate views?
Anyone who disagrees with you has "inappropriate views"????????
Who is being an arrogant little sod today then?????
