The rest is up to him, a run of games and consistent game time would surely bring that back?

You have to wonder how much of it is down to him. You only get out of life what you put in and all that.
But Murphy did get consistent game time when Warnock was manager. He made 29 appearances for us in the Premier League and then played in 13 out of 16 games the following season before Warnock was sacked.

And was asked to start on the wing and play like a centre back.

How many games did he start in a row in the Prem. Felt like he could be MOTM or at least our best attacking option then be dropped. Felt like he was in and out the starting 11 in the Prem.

            Re: Jacob Murphy, Newcastle

I always felt that Warnock wanted Murphy to devote 60% of his time to defensive duties.
If one of his lung-busting surges up the left touchline broke down, he was then expected to get back and cover the left-back position as well.
I think Murphy was always caught in two minds at times. Few players would have had the stamina to carry out what Warnock was asking of him.
Having said that, I think Murphy lacked mental fortitude.

Eddie Howe is quite brave in how he sets up Newcastle in a high press and wide wingers.

Warnock compensates for his lack of bravery by overworking players and not trusting them

NML played the best football of his career under Warnock. Hoilett was fantastic too, it is too simplistic to say we ruined him when two other wingers were at their best (or close to under Warnock).

Murphy was a bad signing but I think there are factors that nobody can control.
