Don’t follow cricket, but find it bizarre that it’s just for THOSE five days….coulddrain allday today and tomorrow then be fine Monday and Tuesday, so they draw it….so unfair when England clearly on top. Also means the Ozzie’s will retain the ashes whatever happens at the oval ?

      Just re-started.

Huge task for England with the ball being so soggy but at least they are getting some play

A quick wicket could still make this interesting.

Yes, anything less than England wins at Old Trafford and the Oval means Australia retain the Ashes.

Umpires call bad light - take of your pace bowlers or we go off. So says the umpire wearing tinted glasses.....

                Labuschagne gone, Joe Root!

                It's back on!

Spinners forced on and got some joy.

                Great drama here.

                  Apparently they enhance the light.

Should make the players wear 'em!

There’s been plenty of occasions where teams have prayed for rain to save themselves.

It’s a case of accept it or return to open ended tests and the disruption that comes with it.

Michael Vaughan made a good point about having a pink ball available for when the light fades. Makes sense to me.
Bits of the game are stuck in the 19th century for the sake of preserving tradition, but that sometimes overrides something that could make an obvious improvement.

We'd have this done and dusted by now if it had been played in Southampton.

                          Piss off Andy Burnham :hehe::hehe:

                            Such a disappointment.

The final Test at 2-2 would have been a great event and something Test cricket badly needs.

England need to pick themselves up and get the draw.

Yes, the Lancashire mafia on Sky and the Yorkies have been up in arms about there not being any test matches north of Nottingham next time Australia tour, but the last two days have shown exactly why this perfectly sensible decision was taken by the ECB.

Still plenty to play for at the Oval - if England can make it 2-2, everyone will know who the better team has been in the series. For a country whose cricketers are generally thought of as brash, Australia began defensively and have got more negative as the series went on.
