    Re: Tina Turner RIP

Full of sorrow, one of the best two live acts I’ve seen. Iconic songs, legendary lady. RIP

She's been around since I was a kid. A great entertainer and always had a smile on her face, despite experiencing some traumatic relationship issues earlier in her life. I guess she is an iconic role model to many people, and her music brought happiness to millions. RIP.

Loved the 60s R&B stuff she did with Ike in the 60s. They released some amazing stuff

Couldn't stand the bland 80s soul lite, pop shite she did though
I liked a fair bit of her pop shite.

She got to a good age, but will be missed.

As will Ray Stevenson - who couldn't sing as far as I know. A bad week for obituaries.

River deep mountain high is a superb record with Nutbush city limits not far behind. Wasn’t as big a fan of her eighties stuff, but didn’t dislike it - she was a trouper who deserved to be one of the biggest stars on the planet ariund forty years ago because of what she had been through during her marriage to Ike.

                RIP

Durban’s, I think it was his, side coming out to ‘Simply The Best’ ruined her reputation.

C'mon John you have to admit Tina's stuff with Ike in the 60s like River Deep Mountain High, the Hunter,, Shake, Dust My Broom, A Fool in Love, Take you higher just to name a few songs were far, far better than anything she did in the 80s.

Or shall we just agree to disagree on M's Bullocks musical output ?

Oh yes - I agree with all of that. It's just that I liked some of the later poppy stuff as well - but not as much as the earlier songs.

Simply The Best is a great song

I am not a big fan of her stuff , I wouldn't put her in the same class as the Supremes , Aretha Franklin , Nina Simone

Saw her at Woburn Abbey around 1990.
The minute she walked onto the stage she had the crowd in her pocket.
That's a rare quality to have.
