But there are two sides to this. Look at the risk to the killer's mental health having to stay in prison for years and years.

Build super prisons on the many islands off the coast's of Britain, for the real scum of this world,
      Your paedophiles,
      Murderers,
      Rapists,
      Terrorists
No visits, no contact with the outside world, no tv's, no Internet etc etc
Make them work for their keep in purpose built factories inside the prisons 12 hours a day.
Properly manned with the right amount of armed guards with the power to shoot when needed. They would be self sufficient prisons and would not cost the honest working people a penny to keep these evil vile scum!!!!!!!!!

The killer is not the victim.

No we should be learning from the Norwegian prisions, look at their re-offending rates compared to the UK prison system.
Brutal super prisons only make things worse.

Exactly look at the state of the prison system in the US. In private hands makes them even worse.

Would you change your mind if someone close to you was abused or murdered?
And they gave him or her a nice easy time in prison with early release for good behaviour!!!!!!

But there is a reason they don't put family members on the jury.

Well the ones who get released have to be someone's neighbour, so it's better to have a penal system that reforms people and reduces crime.

They have to live next door to someone. That being the case, far better that they've been reformed, and taught how to live in society and given skills to turn their life around than been brutalized and locked up with other criminals.

People like to compare criminals to animals, so let's do that.

Say there are 2 dogs, they both bite someone. One is locked up with a dozen more vicious dogs, with no contact with the outside world for a year.
The other is trained how to interact with people and they spend a year trying to correct the dog's bad behaviour.
Which would you want to be bought by the bloke next door?

It’s more that most people who go to prison aren’t murderers or peadophiles and will be released so you want them to be reformed. And it works well in countries that has humane prisons.

I agree very violent criminals shouldn’t be released but most people in prisons aren’t.
