I don't know much about Robertson, but a lot of people seem to really rate him for someone who's had one pretty good season at league one and one forgettable loan to Ross county

            BBC now confident of Robertson

Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson is on his way to Cardiff City.
The two clubs have agreed a deal for the Australian international, which BBC Wales Sport understands could rise to a value of £3m.
Robertson, 21, is due for a medical on Monday with Cardiff's fifth signing of the summer expected to be confirmed shortly.
Cardiff have beaten off competition from newly promoted Championship side Portsmouth to sign the Scottish born player.
Robertson was entering the final year of his contract at the Premier League champions.
Cardiff were optimistic of signing Robertson last week, when manager Erol Bulut said he was an "interesting" player.
But Pompey were very keen to attract the player back to Fratton Park, where he had a successful loan season in 2023-24, making 23 appearances and scoring a goal before injury curtailed his spell there.
Roberton's acquisition will mean Bulut has strengthened the midfield as well as the defensive line with Callum Chambers, and his attacking resources by recruiting Chris Willock, Anwar El Ghazi and Ivorian striker Wilfried Kanga on loan from Hertha BSC.
The Bluebirds still have an interest in signing Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer but are reportedly facing competition from Championship foes Hull City.

                I was wondering this.

I assumed it was because people see he was with Man City therefore must good even though they'd never seen him play.

Half a pretty good season in League One to be more precise. His final appearance for Pompey was on 1st January 2024, then he got badly injured in training and didn't play again.

I don't know much about him either, but he's got to be better than Wintle.

One thing I have noticed looking at Robertson's stats - he gets booked a lot. Ten bookings in 22 (+5) appearances for Pompey last season in all competitions. So I'm guessing he's aggressive.

Assuming he is not ready for a few weeks as well as he has only played a couple months more recently that el ghazi?

I was a bit annoyed Joel Colwill was put out on loan as I felt he had that ability to drive forward through midfield that none of our other central mids do. Only seen the YouTube clips of this lad but it seems he is more than capable of carrying the ball forward and picking a pass which for us will look brilliant.

Good age to be investing in also. Just have to see how he settles in.

That’s what I was thinking. Either there is only limited players available currently so us and hull are targetting the same players.

Or we use the same agents as Hull

                          Or it’s just lazy journalism

is he that far ahead of some of our own youngsters on the back of 20 league one games?

It was a really bad hamstring injury, apparently the worst you can have, but he's said to have recovered. I read an interview where he was saying he could have been back for Pompey's last coupe of games last season at a push, but they decided not to risk it.

No idea who he's been training with recently or if he's had a proper pre-season, but you'd imagine Man City would keep their young players on then go. Not quite the same situation as El Ghazi, who has effectively been without a club, or Kanga, who wasn't a part of Hertha Berlin's pre-season squad.

Who knows? But I'm guessing he's judged to have more more natural ability than our young players.
