Finished work last Saturday, Got home and i could hear a bird chipping away in the back room. Didn't think much of it, so in true Bloke fashion decided to ignore it, but the noise wouldn't go away. So, i identified three areas where i thought the noise was coming from, all in close proximity to each other, although the ball ache was that it was coming from the wall area, which meant cavity. I'm as soft as shit and i couldn't bear the thought of this bird having to put up with a slow death in a dusty dark Cavity and having to listen to it while it slowly perished. So i decided to chop the wall out, two areas as i couldn't identify exactly where it was coming from.
I hacked the plaster back and took out around four bricks in two separate area, loose fill insulation pissed out all over the room, but after a couple of hours of smashing things up i found the bird, it was a fledgling Sparrow. Job done! Now bear in mind i havent stopped, and although my good lady loves animals having two big holes in the walls would never do. So on the Sunday i bricked them up, hardwalled them and skimmed it all up, cleaned up, Hoovered, dusted, all of this in between looking after this bird who needed feeding every hour. Took a shower, clean clothes, sat down, and guess what? His or Hers Sibling must have dropped down the same section of cavity and ended up trapped in exactly the same area, which meant that i had to smash up all of the work i had done previously in order to save the bird..........I've left the wall open for now.....
