      You wish.

He is a few months off 70. He should retire!
      Was referring to Tom Bradbury.

I know Clive is 69 years young .

        Bradby

        Good on him.

Get in more like Matt le Tissier or Ron Burgundy I say.

You bracketed Tyldesley with Bradbury - 'another middle aged ITV fella' - suggesting both were middle aged.

But as Tyldesley ('Clive') is 69 going on 70 do you think ITV should have kept him on because he is (in your words) fit, with a good voice and still has cognitive abilities?

You appear to think the answer is yes.

I disagree. We are talking about TV football commentating here, not US presidenting!

The irony of this is that all of the leading football commentators on BBC, ITV, Sky and TNT are, you've guessed it, middle-aged white men.

But that fact probably doesn't fit with LoM's view of the world.

He was replaced as lead ITV football commentator by sam matterface a few years ago but kept on by them. Now they are putting him out to grass for good. Personally I liked him. And I definitely preferred him to the woeful matterface who I actively turn down.

Just watched the England game, with Sam Matterface commentating, he was terrible.

Matterface is dreadful. He might have a voice that sounds a little like the great Mike Ingham, but that's where similarities end.

I remember in the late 80s and 90s when ITV had Brian Moore, Martin Tyler (before he left to join Sky) and Alan Parry (who would also end up with Sky). Clive Tyldesley, Peter Drury and Jon Champion were their main commentators for their Champions' League coverage. Drury and Champion would work for the world feed for Premier League and other commentaries and Champion even worked in America for a while.

Now, Matterface is ITV's only regular live commentator, with them having little live football coverage left. Their rights to the FA cup end next season as well. How things have changed at ITV and certainly not for the better.

I can't believe Lee Dixon gets the big games. He has the worst droning voice, he offers no insight, its baffling.
