The opposition just stood off him, no one wanted to commit themselves to tackling him. His first touch was superb, his movement off the ball equally so, and great awareness of who was around him.

I am. I'm sure he was a shadow of the player he was. Nowhere even remotely close to Koumas in their respective seasons.

Koumas was easily the best player I've ever seen wearing a City shirt. One of a select few who could be equally as good in the Premier as the Championship.

Eddie Newton looked like he was playing a different game when he arrived on loan, great shout

I remember the City fans running onto the pitch at Newton's final game for us and being chaired off by those supporters.

I don't know if it's rose tinted specs at the time but Eddie Newton reigns supreme with regards to loan signings. TBH if we sign Messi on loan I would still say Newton

Koumas was easily the best player I've ever seen wearing a City shirt. One of a select few who could be equally as good in the Premier as the Championship.

I remember there was quote about Koumas at the time, that he was the best outfield player outside of the Premier League. I think his first game was coming on as a sub against Leeds and he changed the game.

They offered much more over a prolonged period but didn’t regularly change games like Koumas did in that first spell.
