      Re: Mark McGuinness

At the moment, looking at our defending it's very bad news.

But if the feeling is large enough and some is reinvested in the squad then it could work out ok. Maybe.

It has been a while since we sold anyone for any significant amount.

        Re: Mark McGuinness

The fact that we'd look to sell a 23 year old who is already on the verge of being a Premiership level player, in order to fund signing more aging injury prone frees on big wages says it all about how the club is run.

Even if we see the whole amount reinvested in the squad there's pretty much zero chance we get pieces back with the same value. Wonder if how shite we've been defensively to start the year and a possible injury already to Chambers prompts a rethink, but I'm guessing we have to sell just to balance the wage bill.

Mark McGuinness is not on the verge of being a Premier League player. He's committed, no doubt, but he just doesn't have the skill-set to be considered a Premier League player.

Luton think he is, and they don’t get a lot wrong. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he made it

Luton are a championship club and McGuinness is a championship standard player. In the unlikely event they get promoted, they’ll need better than McGuinness

He’s 23. Plenty of potential to keep improving. Unlike Goutas or Chambers.

Isn't the pertinent point that, rather than arguing whether he is or will be Premier League standard, McGuinness is City's best defender at the moment? Our defensive play rather fell off a cliff when he was absent through most of the second half of last season and we've been all over the shop at the back in the first two games of this season, we should be building a side around players like McGuinness, not looking to cash in on him.

                    Re: Mark McGuinness

Only Cardiff city could or would consider selling your best CH with a defensive record like we have.
We should be pulling up the drawbridge on this sale.
He should be no 1 with Walcott, goutas is being found out now week after week

If he did go for big money does anyone trust Bulut/the transfer committee with the money?

                        No.

He shouldn't be given a penny.

Selling McGuinness when we have 2 who look near hopeless in the 1st Team at defending is madness. The sort of decision which will help send us to L1.

Speaking on BBC about the situation, Bulut is quoted:

“It is possible he was left out because of that [a possible transfer].
“I cannot tell you if we have accepted an offer or not. The board can tell you more things about that."

                            What a shambolic situation.

I wonder what profit we will have after McGuiness is sold against the cost of bringing in Chambers.

This is why we need a football man in the boardroom.

I could understand a big offer and a move to a big club but we are probably talking Luton feckin Town here.
