Don’t wave either flag in my name .
    Agreed

Don’t want hate stoked just want an end to the violence.

Not sure what the way to support it is, but I don’t think Palestinian flags are the way to go

Support him for his freedom of expression. I think most of us would obviously want an end to all wars but I don't want to see Palestinian flags in the stadium.

It's not a Cardiff uni rally, let's just enjoy the football.

The Palestinian people aren't Hamas. It goes to show what kind of number the media outlets, the press etc have done when the flag of a country who's people are being wiped out through absolutely no fault of their own, but the fault of one rogue state and the international community is deemed risky at best, and offensive at worst. A show of support and solidarity is contrived by some as support for atrocities committed by Hamas and some splinter groups. That's the definition of 'The world has gone mad' other flags of other countries under attack and being ethnically cleansed would be welcomed.

                Re: Anwar El Ghazi

I have no problem with flags at stadia, but unless there is a tradition of political emblems in the stands (Celtic, St Pauli....) it could become very contrived and divisive.

The groundwork has to be laid. It hasn't been at the CCS.

We also have to remember that the authorities will applaud 'good' flags (Ukraine, Israel....) but punish those who fly 'bad' flags (Palestine, Rainbow....) as Celtic and their fans found out when UEFA decided the Palestinian flag was 'offensive' in November last year.

                  Re: Anwar El Ghazi

There’s just no need for it at a football match. None at all. There are plenty of ways to show your support for the Palestinian people if you are so minded. But, as this thread already clearly demonstrates, it’s not an issue that should be brought into a sports stadium.

He looked like a player with a brain when he came on, comes inside as well. A big positive.

I sympathise with the Palestinian people, but flags at the stadium would be a bad idea. You can’t please everyone and their beliefs, so just don’t go there.

The biggest argument I can make against any display of the Palestinian flag at games is that it would probably lead to someone displaying an Israeli one and, while I’ve no great dislike of the Israeli people at large, I would be very much against anything which suggests support for Netanyahu and his Government.

Israeli flags often seen at Tottenham ... not sure whether any Palestinian flags are taken by away fans as a 'wind-up'.

I’m feeling really positive about this signing, once match fit, he’s going to be some player for us
