Piss poor substitutions, and moving Colwill out of position when he was influencing the game was completely unnecessary and shows why we cannot have an inexperienced coach in charge.

Okay we gained a point, it should have been 3

Thanks for your efforts Reza, but we need more than a Poundland coach if we’re going to improve

“One bad call”? It was arguably the worst in-game call I’ve ever seen. There was still half an hour to play and we were not under any pressure at the point he made the subs!!

One bad call doesn’t cover it I am afraid. Absolute nonsense. There were so many things wrong with that double substitution and the moving around of the positions. They couldn’t handle Colwill in that free role and he chucks him upfront on his own. Madness.

We had completely dominated the first 20 mins of that second half and before he made the subs. It was only a matter of time before we got the second goal and before he handed the initiative back to them. There was absolutely no need to change it in such a dramatic fashion. If people were tiring then go like for like with the changes because we were well on top with the way we were playing. You could excuse him if the changes were on 80 minutes but 65?? Inexcusable.

I honestly don’t know what the fck he was thinking. I don’t know what’s worse. Going to a back 5 inviting pressure when we hadn’t been under any, or moving the guy who was running the show from midfield to being isolated upfront on his own.

I think so much has got to be the 'wanting the full-time gig' factor. It's why we shouldn't put all our chips on caretaker managers. They don't think straight. Ever. And then, if they get a good run of results, they are regarded as improvements. A club in our position needs to look at the rest of the season as a whole. Not match-by-match. There's absolutely nothing about Riza's cv that suggests he'll keep us up. Which, let's face it, right now, is the top priority. He had a mare today.

I think it's also important to look at the table. We're still bottom. Worse GD than Portsmouth and it's October 6th. Our next match is the 19th (?). We needed those 3 points today badly. There's no learning on the job. He can learn on the job with another club who isn't facing relegation from The Championship.

Edit: against a Plymouth side everyone had written off but won't be a push over....especially for us...we're at home!

I wouldn't have made those changes (certainly wouldn't have taken Robinson off) but you could equally argue Colwell and Tanner cost us the game by missing sitters whilst NG was out muscled for their goal.

I would have taken 1-1 before KO, it is a good point IMO.

Thinking about this more and with us facing Plymouth next. They're a side that aren't afraid to keep going for the jugular. I think it'll cost them games but they'll win more than they lose with that approach. Rooney wouldn't have made those decisions/subs today. He'd have been going for 3 or 4.

The reality is Bristol were losing at home to a team below them on the table. They were always going to push on.

At the end of the day that's a good result today

But it could and should have been so much better
I’d had enough of Buluts negativity, and if Reza wanted to show how he could improve things and stake a claim for the job, he should have gone all out for the win
Bizarre tactics and piss poor substitutions tells you everything you need to know about Reza and why he isn’t up to the job.

Kanga FFS, he might as well put a training cone on the pitch

Five at the back to stop them? Well that worked out well????

Thanks but no thanks for me, I wonder if he’ll look back one day and realise how he blew the interview for the gig

I don't entirely disagree. Of course, it could have ended 1-0 to us, but it's also quite possible that irrespeective, Bristol City would have thrown everything forward and been quite capable of getting a cross in and a headed goal

Honestly, four points from two goals..I'm content.

Correct. El Ghazi and Colwill missed sitters, Tanner another easy one. Things had started to turn and a few looked a bit leggy - we tend to need to do more running than our opponents - so I'd seriously think about giving him a shot at the job. It's just about staying up at the moment..
