Hmmm....one of them is in the Greece squad to face England on Thursday....

Genuine question, do you think he's good enough?

For Greece or Cardiff? I don't have a problem with Siopis. Never have. I think it's a pile-in on here and people just look for the mistakes. The thing is, I don't think you can fairly judge him based on this season. If you pick on one Cardiff player, you should pick on them all. We're not bottom of the table because of Siopis. I think our fanbase is barking mad most of the time and like I said in another post, if he was Welsh he'd be a fan favourite.

He's clearly good enough for Greece (and yeah, we'll get the usual disparaging comments about Greece on here too). Goutas isn't in the Greek squad. Not sure why.

I think he's perfectly good enough in a squad where everyone's putting in a shift. I've seen him giving everything in matches when others have been ambling around the park. Can't ask for more from someone playing in a Cardiff shirt. There are some right wasters out there this season. He's not one of them imo and doesn't deserve the stick he gets on here. I think it's lazy groupthink, biased and over-the-top. So, yeah, I think he's good enough.

Everything that's wrong with our fan base in one paragraph

Passion merchants lauded even though the majority of the time he's just flying into a tackle following his first touch, just like when he came on the other day.

Obviously skill is as if not more important than effort but the point is if someone is playing to the very best of their ability then what more can we ask of that individual? Whether we should get someone better is a fair question but its not the individuals fault.

Thanks mate. The laughing emoji is a nice condescending touch to a patronising post. Says a lot.

Years ago I remember a guy going absolutely bonkers when Gareth Stoker got subbed. Claimed he was man of the match. Run around everywhere kicking people punching his fist at the crowd and all that. Couldn't pass water mind.

Loads of City fans like the 100%s. Passing a ball comes 2nd.

I'd agree with the bit in bold. I'm not sure that Siopis has been a singled out any more than Kanga, Chambers, Horvarth, Meite and a few others. I also agree with your comments about the effort that Siopis puts in, but his inability to pass to somebody in the same coloured shirt as him is a real draw back at this level. His lack of strength and physical stature in a position in a league that demands it is another weakness. He is the closest thing we've had to Charlie Oatway since ... well ... Charlie Oatway. And didn't we love him. Pity he couldn't pass to someone in the same coloured shirt, either.

                    Re: Alex Robertson

The reason I'll fight his corner is because I've watched, sat through, been bored stiff and infuriated with our football for years. I'll fight his corner because he wants that shirt. Our shirt. He loves City. Gives everything. Doesn't hide away. Doesn't sulk. Doesn't complain. The fans? The fans currently (at least on here) don't appreciate that and it's the 'oh yeah, he runs around a lot'. Well, f*ck me we could have done with a few more players running around a bit more this season.

What I think is wrong with our fanbase is we're too Welsh focused. Too biased towards our youth players (if they're Welsh and come through our academy then f*ck me, they can't put a boot wrong). We're too entrenched in anti-English bollox and every player is a bad un but mysteriously goes on to play well for other clubs.

It's not the likes of Siopis that should be hounded. It's Tan. He's f*cking awful and the club is dying. Siopis will likely face England on Thursday but hardly anyone will give a toss. They'll just look for him to fail. That's what's wrong with our fanbase. In my opinion.

Not everyone who goes to watch Cardiff City play in the EFL is from Cardiff or Welsh. That's a big problem with our fanbase. It gets in the way of objectivity. That's why we're not as big a club as we should be.

I'll throw in that we have sh*t chants/songs too.

This is a thread in praise of a Scottish Aussie. Nobody has mentioned Welsh midfielders. Your reacting to perceived unfair criticism of a Greek player and claiming that we are are anti-English.

For what it's worth, I think Robertson is a class act.

I'd also agree with the content of your 1st paragraph, hence the Charlie Oatway comparison. Jason Perry and Jeff Eckhardt were also well loved for similar reasons. I just think that the Championship demands more quality (and physique).

                              Keep the faith.

Completely agree with the point on Tan.

I don’t think the anti-English thing is a thing with our players though, Tanner gets more praise than he deserves, lots of English players have been very well supported down the years. Of course fans want our youth players to do well and probably give them more time than someone signed but I don’t think that is a Cardiff city thing, probably the same at every club.

Will have to disagree on Siopis though, it drives me crazy him running around like a headless chicken and being way out of position, giving simple passes away.
