A great idea, just do it, it makes sense, especially in the first six months of young drivers just passing their tests.

yes seems sensible, the lady campaigning for it said the previous government weren't interested though for some reason

Let's make it more difficult for young people to get to work and make it harder for them to live their lives, they've already got it far too easy

there would be concessions for carers, and people with young children and other things like that they were saying on the radio this morning - and the restrictions would ease after 6 months then disappear altogether after 1 year.

If there’s that many concessions it will be pointless. It’s a naff rule that has so many holes in it!

except that already have it in several other countries where it works well apparently

15mph allowed anywhere on all roads . No more injuries for anyone.

Yes, so many holes that it would be almost impossible to police as well.

And, like so many ideas to cut road traffic accidents, it'll do nothing to stop idiots being idiots.

That's the Welsh Government's next plan.

The main point is for a new driver who just passed their test to wait six months and gain some actual driving experience before allowing their three or four teenage friends in the car. I think it's a good idea.

80+ year olds have more accidents than 17-24 year olds. Young women have fewer accidents than 76+. Perhaps we should clamp down on that?

It might be a good idea, it has so many holes in it, it is not policeable and impractical. You’d need caveats for everything, such as parents etc, people going to work, emergencies

They're so excited - so many ideas and schemes to help us all. Waiting for the roll out of millions of free smart watches, too..

Chart 3 on the linked statistics tables suggest you are a little out, more like 85 before accident rates are at the level of under 24s.

I think the chart also makes it clear why there are concerns about the risks for under 24s (and such high insurance premiums), and hence these sort of proposals.
