  • Rinomhoto superb performance

The much maligned Andy Rinomhoto sublimely stepped in for NG yesterday.
He was marking the the excellent Borja Sainz to start with , after a race down the wing where he shut Sainz out, the winger moved further in field looking for easier pickings.
Rinomhoto guarded his side of the park excellently , was involved in late blocks , assisted up front when we were pushing on with some bright moves.
It was only one game but I would let him have another shot at it next game , he earned it.
Great performance for someone playing out of position.
I should add Odowda was excellent on the other side , he plays much better from the back.

I was expecting Rinomhota to leave in the summer, but he has turned into an excellent and adaptable squad player.

His attitude seems to be spot on, and he has the experience and ability to perform well when he has to.

He is now the back up RB - put his name on the position if Ng not available - after being used there pre-season.

Credit to the lad he’s shown a great attitude this season considering the move has never really worked here. I did fear for us yesterday with him up against Sainz but he did well.

When NG is back, Rinohmoto should start ahead of siopis in midfield. Another poor performance yesterday from him

Siopis is focused on when the midfield doesn't tick

He’s focused on because he just runs about like a headless chicken. Might be ok in a foreign league or international football when he’s got more time on the ball to play his backward and sideways passes but it just don’t work in the cut and thrust of the championship. First half yesterday he could have played a simple 5 yard pass forward to Turnbull and got us on the front foot, but instead he didn’t release the ball and tried a drag back backwards to his own goal, into trouble and had the ball robbed off him. He just hasn’t got the time on the ball he is used to in international level. Get him gone in January.

Rino played in an EFL cup game earlier this season, as did Rheindorf, both were good.

It's odd. BLH [before long hair] he seemed the slowest paced player in the squad. No legs, no strength, no speed, nothing. Now ? The exact opposite. Another down to the Bulut Effect..

                  Re: Rinomhoto superb performance

Last season when Rinomhota barely got a game at league level, he’d play in under strength sides in cup games and his attitude was always exemplary. Not only that, he wouldn’t usually play in central midfield, yet he never let the team down. He’s not an outstanding Championship standard player, but, for me, he is Championship standard and as such I feel we could and should have played more for us last season. He wouldn’t have made the midfield more technical or creative, but he’s better at getting around the pitch than the likes of Ralls, Wintle, Siopis and Colwill - we had a lack of stamina and mobility in the middle of the park last year and having Rinomhota in the team would have improved us in those departments.

I’d bring Ng back for Wednesday because he’s back in form, but I’d have had no problem with keeping him in the team a month ago when Ng was struggling.

Especially as he was on a yellow card too.

He’s been solid every time he’s played. And he was one of our best players today imo

I thought Rino was great as a stop gap rightback but overall we sorely mist the effectiveness of the NG-Robertson partnership going forward. They deliberately overloaded the right hand side to great effect for them especially as Sio seemed to be playing too narrow and was dragged left alot that to me seemed part of their plan. Rino was often facing a 2 on 1 situation but as others have said did really well considering.

Pretty much word for word what I was saying to my old man on Saturday. He's a decent player, but he's not cut out for this league at all.

As for Rinomhota, I actually thought he was our best player at Hull and could (should) have had a couple of goals from RB in that game. Was excellent again there on Saturday, too.

I wouldn't want him back in midfield, though, unless needs absolutely must. If everyone's fit, Robertson/Turnbull would be the starting two with Ramsey/Ralls to do the last 20 or 30.

I thought Siopsis played well on Saturday. Wouldn't have him , or anyone in place of Robertson though, he looks a real talent. . Turnbull looks like a new player, very neat and tidy, I knew he couldn't have been as bad as first appeared.
