Drinking in the seats isn’t for me, it would be utter chaos.

I've been to a number of games in Germany, where drinking in the seats is standard practice and all very civilised. However, like you, I can't see it working here.

Going back to TWGL1's original point, while I don't think allowing drinking in the seats would be a good idea in this country, the laws regarding the curtains needing to be drawn in the corporate areas when the game is on are genuinely bonkers.

I have never understood why people get leathered before any sporting or social event they have paid good money to watch

I remember going down to Fulham and 2 of our lot on the train were so pissed they slept through the game

In respect of the question of drinking in seats in the stands, Wayne Nash has said he would not be opposed to it if fans wanted it.

Not sure how Wayne Nash attained the position he has at our club.

I could not believe the gap between the Blackburn fans and ours was so wide.
Most grounds it is only a line of stewards.

In fairness, it was only so big because so few people turned up yesterday. The crowd was announced at around the 17,500 mark if memory serves, but there looked to be nowhere near that number of people in the ground.

                      Spurs Arsenal
                      United City

Absolute overkill from SWP , CCFC and the licensing authority

I remember a home international, Wales vs Scotland, at the Vetch Field - must have been late 70's or early 80's. I got there late and got put in the away end with a mass of drunken Scots. Nightmare. Some of them were so drunk they lay down and slept on the concrete terracing!

I wasn't there but from what I saw on TV there were gaps everywhere, let alone in the big gap between the home and away fans. No where near 17,500.

I think I underestimated the effect of the new TV deal before the season began. I didn’t think it would make much difference this season as season tickets had already been sold. I thought the effects would be felt further down the line. However, it looks like I was wrong as the crowds are increasingly sparse for these early kick-offs.

That said, it’s difficult to draw conclusions with any certainty as City are hardly tearing up the division this season, so the crowds might have been equally small for 3pm kick-offs.

There was talk a few months ago, possibly by Labour during the election campaign, about revisiting the law about drinking and watching football. Not a fan myself of it coming back in all parts of the ground, but could possibly be workable in hospitality areas leaving curtains open.

I’m pretty sure there are trials going on at the moment either in the lower leagues or the women’s game. Or I may have dreamed it.
