28000 there last night (again) so it's obviously at this moment holding the interes of the majority of Welsh football fans.

Strange game wasn't it? I spent most of the first half calling Liam Cullen utter shite under my breath.
That’s a great crowd really considering the conditions on the day, I guess some might not have made it from mid or the north….bellers must be loving it…good on him

No agenda here, but did anyone feel we were a bit lucky or that it was a bit of a freak result?

Maybe it's just that quality won through. Johnson and Wilson were brilliant, and to be fair, Cullen took the chances well. Iceland had so many chances and missed them all, bar the flukey one through the keeper's legs, and Ward should have done better. The other saves were fairly easy, and they missed so many chances.

I suppose that's football, the game changes on goals, take your chances and everything starts to go your way as the confidence grows.

Great feeling at the end, Bellamy has done a fantastic job with a limited squad and has got Johnson and Wilson performing to a great level, he deserves all the credit, well done Bellers and the team, to win that group with that squad is a very good achievement.

Is Beller’s our lucky mascot ?
Was/is his great friend Gary Speed looking after him ?

He was crying walking onto the pitch at the end, you could see the tears in his eyes

Reckon with the chaos going on around Austria that’s probably the best group we could hope to get, although you might rather an aging Croatia team given their recent performances as well.
            Don't want San Marino - they're on a roll!

Not really. Got home after the game last night & I was really surprised at some of the comments on here. Personally, I was surprised at the team / formation. Wards distribution is nowhere as good as Darlow. We set up James & Johnson very wide and then never put the ball in front of them. We were poor for the first 15/20 minutes, seemed to be getting used to the shape, with Cabango often isolated. Once their c/f went off the game totally changed as they stopped pushing up & bullying our centre halves. Yes, Iceland had their moments but after we equalised there was only going to be one winner. We should have had 1 or 2 more.

My MOM was Josh Sheehan. He anchored the whole performance.

Yes Oskarsson going off injured was a big blow for them, he was causing us a lot of problems in the first 20 minutes. It did seem we were “lucky” as Iceland missed quite a few good opportunities but I think our pressing and pace up front eventually wore them down as they were a well beaten team at the end.

Agree about Sheehan, the way we set up he seemed alone in midfield at times and was on the ball a lot, it was his best performance for Wales but we really miss Ampadu in there and hopefully Jordan James can get some regular club football too before the WC qualifiers.

It is exciting watching Wales under Bellamy, maybe he can do the same for Cardiff City in a few years time

I don't disagree that he'd be one of the first names on the teamsheet but we haven't lost a game without him. Been impressed by Sheehan

He's the first line of defence and was also guiding young Jordan James. Iceland were swarming through the middle last night and putting lot's of pressure on our back 4/5.

It's like football pundits / fans saying a player "could have scored a hat-trick", which does my head in!

If one of the chances squandered by Iceland had actually gone in, then the game resets in the centre of the pitch. The other chances referred to could not have happened. The only certain thing that could be said is that Iceland should have scored at least one goal after netting their first.

However, on the balance of play, I thought the 4-1 victory margin was flattering.

Iceland are a strange side - scored the most goals in the group and also conceded the most goals.

Yes, I see what you are saying in addition, lucky could sometimes be replaced by clinical and sloppy, one making people think a team is lucky and another unlucky, which is what I was alluding to.
