Re: Stoke appoint Robins
Yet they have a director of football who many on here feel would be the silver bullet for us and have wet dreams over but as you say they in no better shape than us.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostRowberry was supposed to be coming here in the summer wasn't he? Didn't we only turn to Riza when it became clear he wasn't going to join us? I like Robins, but can't stand Stoke as they're probably a worse run club than we are and don't deserve success.
However Robbins and rowberry are good appointments though and they will finish above us for sure.
It's Oxford Pompey and Plymouth we are competing with- 3 from 4 I think.

Re: Stoke appoint Robins
I don’t disagree with your general assessment of them as a club, yet with this appointment they are demonstrating an ability to make a quick decision, a good decision, and have not put off the candidate with the nature of their owner(s) and their management approach.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostI like Robins, but can't stand Stoke as they're probably a worse run club than we are and don't deserve success.

Re: Stoke appoint Robins
There was an FAW post on Facebook saying he has left role, Head of Elite Coaching or something like that, but is staying as an assistant coach to the men's national team.Originally posted by Crisp White Lines View PostThe article suggests he’s going to maintain his role with Wales.

Re: Stoke appoint Robins
This is my main argument against one. If you appoint a DoF of the calibre of managers Tan has appointed, it is a complete waste of wages and time. Robins went completely tits up when he decided he didn't want to work with his old assistant, Viveash. How instrumental was he to Robins' success?Originally posted by Father Dougal View PostYet they have a director of football who many on here feel would be the silver bullet for us and have wet dreams over but as you say they in no better shape than us.

Re: Stoke appoint Robins
Jon Walters had very little experience in a similar role before Stoke appointed him - just 6 months at Fleetwood. I don't think Stoke fans have been at all impressed.
I think the trick would be to poach a successful DoF from a smaller club. Seems unlikely to happen though.
Personally I think a new CEO is the key appointment, but again it's unlikely we would get a good one if at all.

Re: Stoke appoint Robins
Any new CEO or any DOF who manages (or is allowed by the owner) to turn Cardiff around will likely make their reputation and look forward to a shining career higher up the football food chain. I think we could be an attractive proposition.
