Slightly off topic but what was this like before?

Obviously we are all used to living in an era of a broad terrorist threat but I'd say the threat was greater in the 70s and 80s with the IRA?

I have vague memories of being checked going to the odd big game in the early/mid 90s but what was it like before that? I've always felt that sports crowds seem very vulnerable.

Like what were five nations games like in the 70s and 80s for example?

I always thought that the searching stuff and open jacket thing was more about fans bringing in flares or objects that could be used a missiles, not the off chance that Dai from Trebanog has his Helly Hansen stacked with Semtex.

Jimbo, I'm a bit pissed but early 90s there was a bomb IRA bomb scare at s game between Spurs v Forest.

Week after I was strolling into Ninian Park bollocks drunk and pockets full of acid.

No open coat policy then.

TBF, there were times in the 80s and 90s that you had to be bollocked to watch the shite that was on offer

I've seen photos from the early 70s of skinheads having to take off their boots before games. Was that ever a thing at NP or was it elsewhere?
