I'm taking my daughter to see Fontaines, the back catalogue is a worth a listen - their sound has changed very much over the course of the four albums (which are all excellent). I wouldn't have drawn a comparison with Kasabian personally, they draw from many 80s indie/alternative influences.

Also have a fair few other gigs planned: GANS (tonight!), Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage, Pixies, Jesus & Mary Chain, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, Lana Del Rey (largely chaperoning!), Oasis, James, PiL. Probably looking forward to LCD Soundsystem the most!

Probably just you, they have released 4 great albums, all different. No doubt they have lifted some influences from the past, but that has always been a part of music.

What type of music are you in to?

I mostly go to smaller gigs but going to a few big ones this year. Stevie Wonder, Oasis & Tyler The Creator in London.

By the size of the venue they're playing in, I assume they're pretty good. Then in the Summer/Fall I'm seeing Amyl & the Sniffers, Supegrass and Kneecap. If I can get in for nothing, I might go and see Oasis.
I’ve seen the Damned a few times in the last few years in small venues, they’re still a great band live. I haven’t seen The Beat since the Top Rank in 1980, let us know if they’re still any good?

Most genres really, used to frequent the Welsh club, coal exchange, the point quite a lot back in the day….saw most bands I ever wanted to see at Glastonbury over the years but that’s out of bounds these days. Castle grounds or the castle would be enough for me.

Not into rock or that fuel place or any of that guff mind.
            Sorry sludge….its bollocks

There are a lot of good local band about at the moment. I will try and post some links if i can work it out!

I am going to see these in Le Pub next month. Described as Post Punk but have a great 80's feel to it if you like that sort of thing.

I'm seeing the Ranking Jnr version in The Globe next month. Saw both versions of the band and they are both great (one of my all time favourite bands). I liked the Ranking Roger version more. I'm sure you will love the gig though. They were very tight when i saw them and Dave Wakelings comes across as a top blike.

we saw Paul Heaton in the castle last summer, its a decent outside gig imho, though it does seem alot of welsh people get so drunk at gigs they cant stand up and the smell of weed is a little over the top
