    Re: We need a song

Loads of club’s fans sang You’ll Never Walk Alone in the 60s/early 70s. We did, even the Stretford End sang it, it wasn’t always uniquely Liverpool’s (or Celtic’s). In fact Man Utd fans adopted it after Munich ‘58.

Presumably it stuck with L'pool because it was sung by a Mersey band - at least that is some connection. i would much prefer I'll be there to Hey Jude.

That maxim didn't work for Rushden.

Anyone remember Leicester away at Filbert St, first game of the season 1970? 1-0 win for us and we sang ‘The Wonder of You ‘ before the kick off, it would have made Elvis proud.

Peter Hooton of the farm wrote that song and he is a massive Liverpool fan (a real one).
Another band member was a big Everton fan and when they reached a cup final he asked Peter if they could use it to do the Everton cup final song and Peter agreed.
I heard Peter in later life tell the story that his father gave him a bollocking on his death bed because he allowed it to happen 😂

We could do with a song. Not sure it matters what it is. Just something everyone knows

Simply the Best was arguably the most inspirational 'walk-out' song of the Ninian Park era, although Men of Harlech can have few to match it.

If the Cardiff fans can wean themselves off using the usual non-inspirational & abusive chants towards Swansea & England and the pathetic Sheep Sh@gging B@stards ... in a match then that might have a positive influence on those contemplating Cardiff City as the next step in their career.

‘Simply the Best’??????? The City are the reason why I hate that song. The useless team of the time coming out to that was a total embarrassment and trades description should have got involved. As someone once suggested on here many moons ago, ‘A hooded man ringing a bell should have led the team out bellowing ‘Bring Out Your Dead’

                        Where are the clowns

                        Lyrics
                        isn't it rich?
                        Our form's in the bin,
                        Dalman's in Monaco
                        Vincent won’t fly in…
                        Ken is in London
                        Selling second hand cars
                        Where are the clowns?

                        Isn't it bliss?
                        Don’t you approve?
                        Tan's watching golf swings,
                        While we fail to move.
                        Where are the clowns?
                        Send in the clowns.

                        Just when we hoped
                        That we’d play the youth,
                        We sell them off cheap,
                        And ignore the truth.
                        One’s sold to Leeds,
                        And others gone too
                        Academy dreams?
                        What did they do?

                        Isn't it fun?
                        Dropping like stones,
                        No real direction,
                        Just boardroom woes
                        Where are the clowns?
                        Send in the clowns...
Don’t bother we have them here

Probably better off not singing the actual chorus of that one mind...
