Dimitris Goutas' interview in greek about Cardiff City with his departure being confirmed
I'll translate below

@MouzS13
"The Championship is really as difficult a league as they say.
Games every three days. Intensity. I didn't expect it to be like this.
I knew it was difficult, demanding, but it's one thing to say it, another to live it and understand it."

"You have to be physically, mentally absolutely ready. Always.
And always, in everything, at full intensity.
Duels, "stick", a lot of "stick", the referees reinforcing it and not giving fouls at all."

"I enjoyed the game, the atmosphere in the stadium.
Every match had around 20,000 people in the stadium. Whoever we played with, whatever we played for."

"I suffered with their English. You don't even understand it.
And that's without counting the fact that not everyone speaks English, but the local dialect, which is simply impossible to understand, to listen to, to speak."

"How did I end up in Cardiff?
Erol Bulut knew me from my time in Turkey and Sivasspor.
The truth is that at first I was a little wary, but now that I've experienced it, only now can I understand what it was exactly."

"Think about the level.
In the first season in the division it was Leicester, Southampton, Leeds.
Insane level, Premier League teams. It was fire.
Nothing scared me. Not even when I realized that it would actually be different."

"And that happened right away. I was playing in my first match, at Leeds.
We were leading 2-0 at half-time. I was fine.
The second half starts, a corner kick, I take a step back to make a jump, the opponent comes, hits me in the head, knocks me down."

"I get up and immediately think about protesting.
Everything we're used to. But I turn around and see that none of my teammates are around to support me.
They're gone, they're not even paying attention to the situation."

"From that moment on. From the first game.
And I was lucky that it happened that way.
I continued, I accepted it and from then on, in everything, in training, in games, in my daily life, in my mindset, I adapted straight away."

"Because that's how it is.
If you want to play, if you want to star, there is a very specific way you have to approach the game and its logic."

"And that's what you need to claim and win promotion.
Be on fire. And of course you need depth in the roster.
That is, 30 players, otherwise it won't work.
You have to have a lot of players who are ready."

"Always in good physical condition, mentally, physically.
It requires quality, of course, it requires "dirt".
That is, to be able to, to know how to respond to the specific way of playing.
And it also requires luck."

"Such are the paces, such are the demands, such is the competition, that once it gets you down, its hard to turn around, hard to get away.
No matter what youre chasing.
Thats how we went about trying to get there last year losing points at the end and risking it for no reason."

"And that's how we finally got it this year.
What was the problem? Maybe we were too relaxed.
And not just us on the field.
Everyone around the team, even the fans. No pressure, no disapproval."

"You see, in the game where we were relegated and mathematically, I expected that when I left, things would be very difficult.
But there were 100 people and they were waiting patiently, kindly, for autographs."

"We fell and yet we had a sponsored night to recognize the best player of the season. The whole atmosphere had nothing to do with Greece or even Turkey."

Re: Goutas interview
Here (Greece), you know. Chaos, swearing, not being able to go out on the street.
There, a completely different environment.
It might have only been like that in our group. Am not sure."

"In general, the way everyone was treated and approached, didn't make you feel like "wake up, we're going down".
I don't know if we would have stayed in the division if I had stayed in the team.
I think it was a cycle that closed anyway."

About Sio
"He was a huge help when I was in Cardiff.
He has a way of decompressing those around him, of making them relax.
And I told him that when he left. I would collapse without him being here."

"And I collapsed. I didn't have a person to shout to, to have fun with, to vent to.
It was a big deal for me.
And yes, he keeps telling me that it's time to come back."

Re: Goutas interview
It's a bit bizarre really. How all these footballers manage to settle and do well in and around merseyside, Glasgow, tyneside, Midlands I don't know.Originally posted by Undercoverinwurzelland View PostHe mentions difficulties with the local dialect, just like Burgstaller did a few weeks ago. Do we need to be recruiting an elocution coach?
Pretty good interview, we don't really get to hear that much from ex players. Some of it regarding the attitude around the club was pretty damning although he seems to have just gone with the flow which is a bit disappointing.
It's a much different fan base to even when I was a boy 20 odd years ago, some for the better, some for worse. I think overall though we have had the life sucked out of the club.

How many of the players and staff that he worked with are from Kairdiff?Originally posted by Undercoverinwurzelland View PostHe mentions difficulties with the local dialect, just like Burgstaller did a few weeks ago. Do we need to be recruiting an elocution coach?
I doubt that he heard a Cardiff or South Wales accent very often.
