Remember when you were younger, you’d had a good swish, came home, went to bed and then they started. Head spinning, room spinning, you weren’t quite pissed enough to just crash out. I’ve just got in, had a few, had tea & toast, a tom tit and I’m going to bed, no problem. At what age did the helicopters’ end? Only just thought about it because I’ve had the type of drink that years ago would have had them taking off. I don’t drink nowhere near as much as I used to…. Until the season starts:hehe:

Re: Drunken Helicopters
A terrible, terrible experience.
Holding on to the bed for dear life while the world rotates around your very being at Mach speed.
Slight solace with trying to fixate one eye on a point to give you a bearing.
Then your parents or wife puts a bucket next to the bed or a blanket on you if you decide to take refuge on the cold tiled floor of the kitchen or bathroom with regular check ins to make sure that you are lying on your side.
The shame you feel in the morning is superseded by the relief of still being alive and the grim reality of being alive feeling like you do :)

Well done mate. Not an easy thing to do when it’s glorified in so many places.Originally posted by Michael Morris View Post1 year off the drink for me. Managed the whole of last season sober and I’ve now had my one year ‘dry’ anniversary.
9 years for me on the 24th July, best decision I’ve ever made (it was a problem for me).
I’m a Trustee for a recovery charity in Canton, Recovery Cymru. If anyone needs any support give us a shout

Re: Drunken Helicopters
Yeah. Had high blood pressure and high liver readings last summer so doc told me to lose weight and reduce drinking. So I did both.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostGood work Mike. Do you feel better for it?
I've lost about 6 stone since summer 2024. BP and liver readings all normal now. BMI down from 40 to 28.
Made a huge difference to health and to my wardrobe :-)
They said take a booze break for 6 weeks then only drink on special occasions but I stayed off it. Now have 0.0's if I want the beer experience. Don't think I can ever go back to previous levels which makes me wonder if it's worth having any at all going forward.

Good skills Mike.Originally posted by Michael Morris View Post1 year off the drink for me. Managed the whole of last season sober and I’ve now had my one year ‘dry’ anniversary.
I did 3 months off earlier this year and felt great.
Next break, I might just keep it going.
