Re: What a good start for Merthyr.

Another good win against a Worksop side who were up around the play off places before yesterdays game.

Weathered the storm 1st half and only one team in it 2nd half. Surprised by how many teams are so direct in this division. It’s like a Neil Warnock convention.
Sides in this division are a lot bigger physically than the league below. Merthyr are a footballing side and even their defenders are not very big so having to rely on the goalkeeper to keep them in games at times as they get used to dealing with the physical and aerial threat. The centre forward for Worksop yesterday was huge.

Why do we have a Merthyr thread on here?

Most of their fans hate us but there still seems to be some sort of infatuation with them amongst Cardiff fans

        Do they?

Genuine question as I've always assumed there was a lot of crossover.

As with the majority of your posts you appear out of touch with reality.

I don't profess to knowing what the sentiment amongst Merthyr fans towards us is. Is there any ill-feeling?

No. Not at all. Other way around if anything. There’s some local Cardiff fans who hate Merthyr for some reason.

Some of the more staunch Merthyr Bluebirds won’t have anything to do with Merthyr because Merthyr academy had a link with Swansea academy a few years ago (not even sure that still the case I think they’ve gone on their own again) and call them Jacks. A childish and pathetic viewpoint imo.

There’s many fans of both Cardiff and Swansea from Merthyr and the surrounding Valleys who also go to watch Merthyr regularly if they are not watching their league clubs. Its helped grow the fanbase 4 fold since Covid.

There is. At least 8 of the lads I watch Merthyr with also watch Cardiff. Some go away with both Cardiff and Merthyr. I know quite a few Merthyr Jacks who do the same.

Non league is a totally different experience. Few beers on the terrace, not all acting the tough guy shouting obscenities at the officials or goading or the awayfans.

Worksop fans walked through the home end yesterday to get to where they needed to go first half and were chanting as they walked along the bottom of the terrace. Merthyr fans chanting back in good humour. Totally different vibe,

How can you watch both teams? Seems a lot of effort. Strange to me to support two teams in the same system. Who will they support if we get them in the FA Cup first round?

What’s it got to do with you how I spend my Saturdays? Who are you? The chief inspector of the football fan police?

Curious as seems strange to split your time between two sides. Who would you support if we played them in the FA Cup first round?
