You sound more and more like a grovelling snake with each post. Wouldn’t have liked to be fighting beside you in the trenches.

At least I wouldn’t be alongside you in the fascist trenches.

I dunno. You seem to have pretty fascistic views of people with different opinions..

Can't say I am a great fan of James McClean, but I have always respected his stance on the poppy, which I think is understandable given he grew up on the western side of Derry.

I have also seen him state that he respects the contributions made in the world wars etc.

My opinion of him did change when he posted this though, which I thought was extremely disrespectful. He rightly apologised.

I got my poppy today which I will wear with pride as I do every year. World war 2 was this nations greatest hour and I will always respect the ultimate sacrifice and have also had friends serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I don't think it's hard to show some basic respect in that regard, but James McClean does have his reasons.

The same could be said of Billy boy and his thoughts on McClean or anyone else in this thread who disagrees with him.

I think it worse that he wore the balaclava in front of his kids.

Yeah it was very in poor taste. Lockdown did weird things to people.

Re: Wrexham player punches City fan

I popped out to my local this afternoon to watch the Wolves Chelsea game.
My Irish Mate Francis was there and we discussed the poppy that I was wearing.

To him, he just could never wear it.
It’s just what it symbolizes to him.
No dramas or anything and you wouldn’t find any malice from him towards people from the UK, although he does like to rag on The English National sports teams as much as I do.

I think it might be a decent idea to have a green poppy to acknowledge the contribution of Irish soldiers…or just not give them stick for wanting no part of it.
Either way, it should be a personal choice…not a fashion accessory, not a stick to beat someone with and certainly not mandatory.

You do seem like the type of poster that likes to join in threads toward the end as a voice of reason, so can you explain how me thinking McLean is a bit of hypocrite, which is just my opinion, amounts to me being a fascist ?

Have you read my posts? I’ve said I have no truck with anyone wearing a poppy, it’s just not for me. One person on this thread has pushed & pushed his opinions on us. We know his views on the matter and he’s foisting them on anyone who disagrees. As I say, it’s up the individual if they want to wear a poppy, Bill gives the impression that it should be mandatory.

You can think whatever you want to think about McClean, although i don't agree that he's a Hypocrite, you do, that's fine. I don't think that you're a Fascist, they weren't my words, i was picking up on an observation made by the balanced one (jim Bob) and said that by his reckoning, he could be saying the same thing to you. Hope that clears it up for you.

I think you will find there is no defense for aggression unless you really are under attack which he wasnt . He "thought" he might be by one person not the 4 of them .

What is interesting is his character is either defended or attacked on his views on Ireland and the poppy .

One persons terrorist is the next persons freedom fighter.

A lot of people earn their wages in country’s they’re not keen on, as I’ve mentioned I’d imagine we’ve got fans who jump on the anti English bandwagon yet work over the Bridge. Some British revel in the tag ‘expats’ while living abroad and having a ‘us Brits are better than you’ attitude. It’s not unique to an Irish lad working over here. Yes, it’s your opinion but you’re focussing on one person who retaliated when confronted by four people insulting him. The reasons why he did have been discussed and you’ve given your reasons citing world wars and conflicts, which are a bit out of context regarding McLean. Some wars that’s been agreed were needed, others not so much.
Hasn’t McLean said he respects Britain’s part in necessary military actions but has no respect for the actions on the streets where he lived and grew up, which, in MY opinion is quite understandable.
