    Re: OFFICIAL 2025/26 ASHES THREAD

The disparaging remarks about Neser and Boland ignore the fact that as second choice they are considerably better than England 's current first choice options - Wood, Atkinson and Carse. Neser, especially, could be considered the best fast bowler to play for Glamorgan in recent times - and he can bat too.

There is no substitute for competitive match cricket. That is where you find out what length to bowl on Australian pitches, what shots to use best on their surfaces and more importantly what not to do. They have created their own problems.

Jofra had 1/19 off 9 overs, and 2 drops in his first spell in the 1st innings. He's one of the few who can hold his head high. The stuff written about him is pathetic.

Fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of England's Ashes tour and replaced in the squad by Matthew Fisher.

            Everyone could see this coming

              Carey not a walker

              Is this cheating ?

Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey says he got a "bit of luck" after admitting he'd thought he'd hit been caught on the opening day of the third Test between Australia and England. Carey was given not out on the field of play, after the "Snicko" technology appeared to reprieve him; a decision the operator of the technology said was an "error" following the day's play in Adelaide.

No. Snicko (or the better version Ultra Edge used here), is there to correct doubt and human error. The technology was at fault for not providing the evidence that the not-out decision should be overturned.
Cricket is a peculiar sport in that decisions made by the umpire can be technically wrong, but go unchallenged, even when the technology shows the decision to be incorrect.

                    Re: OFFICIAL 2025/26 ASHES THREAD

Archer picks up the last 2 wickets after a mini cameo from Starc, Aus all out for 371.
Pleased for him after being let down in the field in the last test.

Apparently the strip is perfect for batting on and the narrative is England are set to hit a big score.
Haven't they been promising this all through the Ashes run up?

Question is, Can they actually walk the walk?
I fully expect an England lead when I wake up later (bound to fall asleep!).....

132-5 at tea, four of them out to defensive shots apparently-Pope being the exception.

More controversy about Snicko as Smith is given out for the same sort of thing Carey was given not out for yesterday despite neither side referring the decision to the third umpire. None of this takes away from the fact it was a poor shot by Smith in yet another substandard batting effort by England.

Au contraire, I love the cricket, just not a fan of England, or their embarrassing ‘fans’.
